Isiah Kiner-Falefa is due to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday.

Kiner-Falefa, out with forearm inflammation, was moved to the 60-day IL earlier this week, but he’ll be eligible to return from that even before the rehab assignment starts. The Red Sox probably won’t rush to bring him back, as they also have Trevor Story returning and only so much room on the roster.

Roman Anthony will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Portland on Tuesday.

It’s finally happening. Anthony has been out with a finger injury, eventually diagnosed as a partially torn tendon, since early May. If he starts hitting immediately in the minors, there’s a chance he could rejoin the Red Sox next weekend. If not, the series starting Aug. 24 in Miami seems more realistic.

Mariners claimed RHP Troy Watson off waivers from Tigers.

He’ll head to Triple-A Tacoma. The 29-year-old Watson, an experienced swingman, has never pitched in the majors. The Tigers added him to their 40-man last month in order to prevent him from leaving the organization, but they kept him in Triple-A afterwards and DFA’d him earlier this week. He had a 3.27 ERA and a 38/18 K/BB in 55 innings over eight starts and nine relief appearances for Triple-A Toledo.

Tyler Soderstrom is out of the lineup Saturday for the second time in four games.

The A’s had Thursday off, so Soderstrom has started just twice in five days. However, at least this day off, unlike the last one on Tuesday, is against a lefty. Soderstrom is still bothered by the sore hip that put him on the IL in early July. He’ll probably do a lot of DHing the rest of the way.

Angels selected the contract of RHP Michael Fulmer from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Fulmer, in the majors for the first time in 2026, gets a bullpen spot four days after being signed to a minor league contract by the Angels. He previously had a 2.98 ERA in 42 1/3 innings of work for the Giants’ Triple-A affiliate. The 33-year-old has a career 37-50 record and a 3.95 ERA in 90 starts and 175 relief appearances as a major leaguer, but he’s totaled just 5 2/3 innings since requiring elbow surgery in 2024.
