Phillies recall Max Lazar from Triple-A on Sunday

Jenkins gave the Twins an insurance run in the seventh inning, leading off the frame with a solo homer off Duncan Davitt. The 21-year-old outfielder is up to four homers and one steal while hitting .214/.295/.414 across 79 plate appearances.

Hoffman was summoned to close out the game in the bottom of the ninth with a two-run lead over the Giants. The Giants would bring one run across on a force out before Hoffman struck out the final batter to secure the win with his sixth save of the season.

He recovered nicely, cruising through four more scoreless innings, ending his day after six innings with six strikeouts. The 25-year-old right-hander has likely made his final start, ending a breakout season with a 3.73 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 205/76 K/BB ratio across 178 1/3 innings.

Molina had retired his first ten batters before the Brooks Lee got on with a hit in the fourth. He stranded one more baserunner in the fifth, then gave up two runs on three hits in the sixth. Molina’s day would be done after the sixth at 85 pitches. He struck out six. The 24-year-old right-hander has been solid over nine games(five starts), posting a 3.97 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and a 31/7 K/BB ratio across 34 innings. He’s in line to take the mound for Sunday’s season finale against the Dodgers in San Francisco.

Junk gave up two hits, walked one and struck out six. The Cubs didn’t score until after Junk left the ballgame and the Marlins offense didn’t breakout until a six-run 12th inning. Junk has a 4.31 ERA. He’s lined up to face the Braves at home on Sunday.

Pasquantino’s home run was his 15th of the season. He hit a grand slam off Luis Castillo in the ninth inning. Pasquantino has had a down season, but suddenly has six home runs and 18 RBI in 18 games in September. He’s hitting .259 with a .751 OPS and 59 RBI with five games left in the regular season.

Murakami’s home run was his 33rd of the season. He hit a two-run shot off Royals reliever Tony Gonsolin in the seventh inning. Murakami has two home runs and seven RBI over his last five games. He’s hitting .203 with an .817 OPS and 72 RBI with five games left in the regular season.

Meidroth’s home run was his 16th of the season. He hit a three-run shot off Daniel Lynch in the third inning. Meidroth has two home runs and seven RBI over his last two games. He’s hitting .271 with a .756 OPS and 63 RBI with five games left in the regular season.

Lynch gave up seven hits, walked three and struck out two. He fell to 6-6 with the loss. Lynch held the Astros scoreless over five innings in his last start, but was a disaster against the White Sox Tuesday. He allowed three home runs in a nine-run blowout. Lynch will take a 4.13 ERA into his next start against the Guardians at home on Sunday.

Kay gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out four. He began the fifth inning with a 9-3 lead, but was removed after allowing the first two batters he faced to reach base. Kay is lined up to face the Rockies at home on Sunday. He’s won nine of 30 starts and the White Sox will likely continue to have Kay on a short leash.
