Yankees recall Yerry De los Santos

As anticipated, Rushing rejoins the Dodgers for the final weekend of the regular season. He’s still unable to throw without pain and will be limited to designated hitter duty and pinch hitting, which may not be enough to earn him a spot on the Dodgers’ roster to open the postseason. Alex Freeland was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move on Friday.

The Brewers needed to clear a spot in their bullpen for the return of Bryse Wilson (back) on Friday and unfortunately, it looks like Richardson drew the short straw this time around. The 26-year-old hurler appeared in just one game during his time with the Brewers, hurling 1 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball. Last time the Brewers DFA’d him, Richardson wound up re-signing on a minor league contract and the same thing could happen this time around as well.

Wilson had been sidelined since the end of August due to a lower back strain. Before landing on the injured list, he had posted a 3.67 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 30/3 K/BB ratio over 34 1/3 innings of work. He’ll give manager Pat Murphy another weapon to deploy in the middle innings.

He’ll add a bench bat for the club’s weekend series against the Cardinals with Andrew Vaughn (illness) landing on the 10-day injured list. Lockridge has already appeared in 38 games for the Brewers this season, slashing .273/.345/.313 with zero homers, 12 RBI and six stolen bases in 111 plate appearances.

Vaughn has been feeling under the weather for the past three or four days already, so it made sense to place him on the injured list and get a fresh bench bat in there for their weekend series against the Cardinals. He should be ready to go for the start of the postseason.

Bregman just returned to the Cubs’ lineup on Friday afternoon after missing three games due to fractures in his cheek, so they’ll ease him back into action and give him the night off. He could still make an appearance off the bench if needed. Matt Shaw will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat ninth against Red Sox’ right-hander Brayan Bello.

The 24-year-old southpaw made his final minor league rehab start at Triple-A Rochester on Monday where he allowed three unearned runs over 1 2/3 innings of work. He’s unlikely to work deep enough into Saturday’s game to earn a victory, which makes him an unappealing streaming option for fantasy purposes.

Norby has been seeing regular action between second base and third base for the Rockies down the stretch, but he’ll take a seat in this one while Adael Amador starts in his place at second base and will bat second against White Sox’ right-hander Sean Burke. Norby has hit .306/.387/.468 with three homers, 17 RBI and four stolen bases in 142 plate appearances since joining the Rockies.

Paez will give the Red Sox another bullpen arm that’s capable of working multiple innings for the second half of Friday’s doubleheader against the Cubs. The 22-year-old has been crushed to the tune of an 18.90 ERA and 2.85 WHIP over 6 2/3 innings in four appearances with the Red Sox this season.

Burgos fired two perfect innings against the Cubs in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader, protecting a one-run advantage to earn a save. He was then optioned out before the nightcap so the Red Sox could add a fresh arm to the staff in Jedixson Paez. It’s possible that Burgos could get another opportunity with the Red Sox for the postseason.
