Yusei Kikuchi posted seven strikeouts and gave up three runs over five innings during Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Mariners.
Kikuchi allowed three earned runs or fewer in five of his seven starts after returning from the injured list in late August. He posted a strong 3.20 ERA across 19 2/3 innings in five September outings. The 35-year-old southpaw missed most of the year with shoulder inflammation, finishing with an inflated 4.92 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 67/30 K/BB ratio across 67 2/3 innings over 14 starts.
