Twins signed RHP Virgil Vasquez to a minor league contract.
Vasquez hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2009 season, when he posted a rough 5.84 ERA in 44 2/3 innings with the Pirates. The righty turns 31 next June.

Cody Ponce will undergo season-ending surgery to repair ACL damage in his right knee.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters Ponce will be out for at least six months, which effectively ends his season. The 31-year-old suffered an ACL sprain in his right knee during his season debut against the Rockies last week. It was his first start in the big leagues since 2021. The 31-year-old’s extended absence creates even more issues for Toronto’s rotation, which has been decimated by injuries this season.
Better late than never: Walker off to great start
Eric Samulski analyzes Jordan Walker's hot start to the season, explaining what the 23-year-old is doing better and sharing why he "certainly has the power to hit 30 home runs if he continues to start for the Cardinals."
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #50
Phillies activated RHP Orion Kerkering from the 15-day injured list.
The move is now official. Kerkering rejoins Philadelphia’s bullpen after missing a couple weeks with a hamstring strain. The 25-year-old high-leverage arm posted a strong 3.30 ERA across 60 innings last year before committing an NLDS-ending fielding error against the eventual World Series champion Dodgers last postseason.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher
Blue Jays selected the contract of LHP Patrick Corbin from Low-A Dunedin.
Corbin fortifies Toronto’s razor-thin pitching depth heading into Tuesday’s showdown against the Dodgers at the Rogers Centre. The 36-year-old veteran southpaw signed a one-year pact earlier this month after the Blue Jays lost Cody Ponce to a potentially season-ending knee injury. He’ll operate in a swingman-type long relief role out of the bullpen, but could also take the ball as a traditional starter, if needed. He’s not a recommended fantasy option either way.
  • TOR 2nd Baseman #49
Blue Jays recalled 2B Tyler Fitzgerald from Triple-A Buffalo.
Fitzgerald gets the call to join Toronto’s bench mix with Addison Barger (ankle) requiring a trip to the injured list. The 28-year-old second baseman was picked up in a trade with the Giants last weekend. He can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats for now.
  • TOR 3rd Baseman #47
Blue Jays placed 3B/OF Addison Barger on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 6, with a left ankle sprain.
Barger winds up requiring a trip to the injured list to allow for some extra recovery time and enable Toronto to bring up some bench depth. The 26-year-old was one of last year’s biggest breakthroughs fantasy-wise, but he was off to a slow start this season before suffering an ankle injury over the weekend when he stepped awkwardly on first base. It’ll likely be a minimum stay on the injured list for Barger, who should be ready to return at some point next week.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #61
Blue Jays designated LHP Josh Fleming for assignment.
Fleming has been unceremoniously booted from Toronto’s bullpen after being asked to soak up three innings following Max Scherzer’s early exit from Monday’s start against the Dodgers after just two innings. The 29-year-old lefty figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and head back to Triple-A Buffalo as emergency depth.
  • KC Shortstop #7
Bobby Witt Jr. stole two bases despite going hitless in a loss to the Guardians on Tuesday.
Witt stole both second and third base after he drew a walk off Shawn Armstrong in the eighth inning. The 25-year-old hasn’t hit up to his caliber to begin the season, but he’s already up to seven stolen bases over the first 11 games. It’s just a matter of time until the hits start dropping for Witt.
  • CLE Shortstop #74
Juan Brito went 2-for-4 with a double in a win for the Guardians on Tuesday over the Royals.
Brito was called up Tuesday by the Guardians, and he made an immediate impact. The 24-year-old laced a double for his first MLB hit, and he added a single for good measure. The 24-year-old will likely handle second base with Gabriel Arias on the injured list due to a hamstring issue, and he’s worth monitoring in AL-only formats. It’s hard to see mixed-league relevance for now, however.
  • KC Catcher #22
Carter Jensen hit a solo homer in a loss to the Guardians on Tuesday.
Jensen was responsible for the only run of the game for the Royals with a solo shot off Gavin Williams. He also walked. It’s already the third homer of the season for Jensen, and the rookie backstop is slugging .630 over the first 11 games.
  • CLE Shortstop #4
Brayan Rocchio hit a walk-off single in the ninth inning to give the Guardians a 2-1 win over the Royals on Tuesday.
With the score tied at 1-1, Rocchio laced a one-out single off John Schreiber to score Cj Kayfus and gave the Guardians the walk-off win. The 25-year-old infielder went hitless outside of that knock, but a game-winning single will help make up for that in a hurry. Rocchio has gotten on base at a solid .341 clip over the first 11 games, but he offers almost zero power and doesn’t really steal bases, either.
