    The 26-year-old appeared in five games with the Braves, posting a 8.64 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 5/4 K/BB ratio over 8 1/3 innings. He should get another chance with the big league club later in the summer.

    Tommy Troy left Saturday’s game against the Dodgers in the fifth with a right shoulder contusion.

    Troy was already a little hobbled after fouling a ball off his foot and then went crashing into the wall making a catch in the fifth. He’s probably day-to-day. Jorge Barrosa took over for him.

    Bregman’s home run was his eighth of the season. He hit a two-run shot off Reds reliever Julian Garcia. It’s Bregman’s second home run in his last 10 games. He’s hitting .236 with a .678 OPS and 37 RBI with one game left before the All-Star break.

    Edwin Díaz struck out two in a scoreless innings for Low-A Ontario in his first rehab appearance Saturday.

    Díaz, who is coming off surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow, allowed a single after the strikeouts, but then the runner was caught stealing. This is a good start, but he’ll make a few more appearances before the Dodgers consider activating him from the IL.

    Javier Assad allowed two runs in five innings and got a no-decision in the Cubs’ 5-3 victory over the Reds on Saturday.

    Assad gave up seven hits, walked none and struck out four. The 28-year-old right-hander gave up solo home runs to Nathaniel Lowe and Eugenio Suarez in the fourth inning, but otherwise kept Cincinnati off the scoreboard. Assad remains a risky streaming option as he takes a 4.11 ERA into the All-Star break.

    LaMonte Wade Jr. went 1-for-4 with a grand slam against the Rangers on Saturday.

    Wade’s home run was his second of the season. He hit a grand slam off Kumar Rocker in the third inning. Wade is a strong-side platoon option for the Astros in right field. That gives him some value in AL-Only leagues.

    Cristian Javier will start Sunday’s game against the Rangers, the Astros announced.

    He’s taking the spot of the demoted Mike Burrows. Javier has allowed one run and walked three over three innings in two relief appearances since being activated last week. He had a 12.54 ERA in three starts to open the year before landing on the IL with a shoulder strain.

    Alvarez’ home run was his 31st of the year. He hit a two-run shot off Kumar Rocker in the first inning. Alvarez is hitting .315 with a 1.055 OPS and 70 RBI with one game remaining before the All-Star break.

    The Rangers will start MacKenzie Gore on three days’ rest Sunday against the Astros.

    Even if Gore volunteered for the assignment, this seems like a pretty awful idea. The left-hander has given up 12 runs over 10 innings in his last two starts. He’ll be filling in for Jacob deGrom, who is out with a glute strain.

    Kumar Rocker allowed seven runs and took the loss against the Astros on Saturday.

    Rocker gave up eight hits, walked two and struck out six. He fell to 2-8 with the loss. Rocker was done in by the home run as all seven runs he allowed came on the three home runs he allowed. His ERA is up to 4.40 heading into the All-Star break.

    Peter Lambert allowed one run in six innings and got the win in the Astros’ 9-3 victory over the Rangers on Saturday.

    Lambert gave up three hits, walked one and struck out seven. He improved to 8-5 with the win. Lambert has won six of his last seven decision. He was excellent against the Rangers on Saturday, lowering his ERA to 3.14 heading into the All-Star break.
