Giants optioned RHP Daniel Slania to Triple-A Sacramento; re-assigned OFs Wynton Bernard, Steven Duggar and Austin Slater, Cs Aramis Garcia and Matt Winn and INF Ryder Jones to minor league camp.
There are no surprises in this group. Slania was added to the 40-man roster over the winter and was not ranked by MLB.com among the Giants’ top 30 prospects.

Gavin Sheets went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI on Thursday as the Padres topped the White Sox 13-6 in their Cactus League affair.
Sheets smacked a two-run shot off of Adisyn Coffee in the opening inning that tied the score at 3-3. He also singled in the fourth inning and came around to score on a run-scoring knock off the bat of Miguel Andujar. The 29-year-old has had a solid spring at the plate, hitting .270 (10-for-37) with three long balls and eight RBI. He’s expected to serve as the Padres’ regular first baseman against right-handed pitching.
Who broke Dan Patrick's Sammy Sosa statue?
The I-Team is on the case to trace the culprit after Dan Patrick's Sammy Sosa statue was found in pieces at the Mancave.

Rob Refsnyder exited Thursday’s game in the sixth inning after taking a J.T. Ginn pitch off his arm.
It’s probably a day-to-day injury for Refsnyder, but we’ll see. He’s slated to start against lefties for Seattle, typically in right field or at DH.

Michael King struggled during his final Cactus League tuneup against the White Sox on Thursday, giving up six runs on nine hits over his five frames.
The 30-year-old right-hander also issued a pair of walks in the contest while striking out three. The White Sox got to him for three runs in the first inning then tacked on another three in the fourth. LaMonte Wade Jr. inflicted a large chunk of the damage against him with a pair of home runs and three RBI. King got five whiffs on 91 pitches on the night, registering an uninspiring CSW of 23 percent. He finishes the spring with a troublesome 10.19 ERA and 1.87 WHIP despite his 17/7 K/BB ratio over 17 innings in his five starts. Fantasy managers may want to see him right the ship before inserting him into lineups to start the season.
  • CWS 1st Baseman #35
LaMonte Wade Jr. went 2-for-2 with a pair of homers and three RBI on Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough to power the White Sox past the Padres in Cactus League play.
Wade continues to fight for a spot on the White Sox’ Opening Day roster and he made a strong case on Thursday. He opened the scoring in the top half of the first inning with a two-run blast off of Michael King. He then got King again in the third inning with a solo shot that tied the game at 6-6. The 32-year-old also drew a pair of walks, reaching base safely in each of his four plate appearances. For the spring, he’s slashing .289/.429/.605 with three homers, nine RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 49 plate appearances.
  • COL Left Fielder #3
Willi Castro went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double on Thursday as the Rockies fell to the Giants in Cactus League play.
The versatile 28-year-old started at shortstop and batted second for the Rockies in this one with Ezequiel Tovar serving as the designated hitter. Castro smacked a one-out double off of Logan Webb in the opening inning and scored the Rockies’ first run on an RBI single by TJ Rumfield. He then tagged Webb for a 434-foot (110.7 mph EV) solo shot in the fifth inning that tied the score at 6-6. Castro has had a strong spring, hitting .588 (10-for-17) with a homer, five RBI and a stolen base in his limited Cactus League action.

Tomoyuki Sugano pitched well in his final Cactus League tune-up on Thursday, allowing just one run on four hits over three innings against the Giants.
The 36-year-old right-hander struck out one batter on the evening and didn’t allow a base on balls. The lone tally against him came on an RBI single off the bat of Casey Schmitt in the second inning. Sugano pounded the strike zone in this one, needing just 34 pitches (24 strikes) to navigate his three frames. That was his only start in Cactus League play after spending most of the spring with Team Japan for the World Baseball Classic. He remains an uninspiring option for fantasy purposes.

Yusei Kikuchi limited the Royals to one run in 4 2/3 innings in the Angels’ 4-3 victory Thursday.
Lane Thomas’s solo homer was one of two hits against Kikuchi, who was technically making his spring debut tonight after giving up three runs over four innings in two appearances for Japan in the WBC. The Angels said tonight that he’ll start the second game of the regular season Friday against the Astros. Given that he was only up to 64 pitches tonight, he doesn’t seem like a great first-week option in mixed leagues.
  • SF Center Fielder #0
Drew Gilbert went 3-for-5 with a triple, walk and a pair of runs scored as the Giants triumphed over the Rockies 14-11 in Cactus League play on Thursday evening.
The 25-year-old outfielder led off the fifth inning with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Heliot Ramos. He also singled twice in the ballgame. For the spring, he’s hitting .259 (7-for-27) with a pair of RBI though he has yet to hit a home run or steal a base. He’s expected to land a bench spot on the Giants’ Opening Day roster but won’t be relevant from a fantasy perspective unless he winds up in an everyday role.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #62
Logan Webb was knocked around by the Rockies in his final Cactus League start on Thursday, surrendering six runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Webb struck out three batters on the evening while allowing one base on balls. The Rockies scratched out a run against him in the opening inning then added four more in the second on run-scoring knocks from Edouard Julien, Mickey Moniak and Hunter Goodman. Webb got up to 86 pitches in the outing, throwing 58 of those for strikes. After pitching well for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, Webb wraps up his spring on a disappointing note and with a 6.75 ERA over 9 1/3 innings in his three Cactus League starts. He’ll do battle against the Yankees his next time out on Opening Day on Wednesday.

Walbert Urena yielded two runs over four innings while earning a win in relief Thursday against the Royals.
Urena touched 100 mph tonight and averaged 98.8 mph with his fastball and 98.1 mph with his sinker. He’s probably not ready for the majors just yet, but he’s the Angels’ most exciting option to replace the ailing Grayson Rodriguez or the ineffective Alek Manoah in the rotation. It’s just probably not going to happen quite yet.
