    Giants released WR Golden Tate.
This move was widely expected after a forgettable season that included a suspension and some on-field frustrations surrounding his target volume. Tate, 33, no longer projects as a sure-fire starter in the slot but could be a fit on a contender as depth. He’s posted 795-, 676-, and 388-yard seasons since leaving Detroit in 2017. The Giants will be leaning on Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton, Saquon Barkley, and offseason acquisitions in 2021.

TJ Rumfield (shoulder) remains out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Angels.
Rumfield remains out of Colorado’s lineup after being a late scratch from Sunday’s series finale against the Giants with right shoulder inflammation. The 26-year-old rookie standout missed one game last week with a hand contusion. It’ll be Edouard Julien taking over at the cold corner in his place.
Duran someone to add amid hot streak for Red Sox
Eric Samulski details Jarren Duran's recent hot streak for the Boston Red Sox and why he is someone to add in fantasy leagues whether via waivers or trade.
  • LAA Shortstop #9
Zach Neto is in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Rockies.
Neto checked out fine after a scary-looking collision during Saturday’s contest against the Rays left him with some whiplash side effects. The 25-year-old shortstop went 0-for-4 on Sunday in his return to the lineup. He’s slashing an underwhelming .231/.339/.427 with 10 homers and eight steals in 274 plate appearances over 60 games this season.
  • AZ 3rd Baseman #28
Nolan Arenado is at third base and hitting cleanup for Monday’s series opener against the Dodgers.
Arenado went 0-for-4 in his return to Arizona’s lineup during Sunday’s game against the Mariners after missing three contests due to a combination of groin and elbow issues. The 35-year-old defensive wizard appears unlikely to miss any additional time moving forward.
  • SF 2nd Baseman #41
Giants selected the contract of INF Buddy Kennedy from Triple-A Sacramento.
Kennedy receives his first opportunity with the Giants after signing a minor league contract last offseason. The 27-year-old infielder has appeared in 67 games between five different teams since 2022. He’s struggled to gain any traction at the highest level despite posting some huge numbers at the Triple-A level.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #71
Giants selected the contract of RHP Wilkin Ramos from Triple-A Sacramento.
The move is now official. Ramos receives his first call up to the big leagues after compiling a 2.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 27/7 K/BB ratio across 27 innings at the Triple-A level this season. He’ll help San Francisco’s bullpen as a fresh middle relief arm.
  • SF Catcher #79
Giants optioned C Jesús Rodriguez to Triple-A Sacramento.
Rodriguez wound up playing sparingly for the Giants, hitting .231/.302/.385 with two homers, seven RBI and one steal in 43 plate appearances over 14 games, since being called up back on May 4. The 24-year-old will get a chance to play everyday back in the minors until a more permanent opportunity arises.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #63
Giants placed RHP Joel Peguero on the 60-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
Peguero winds up on the shelf and will miss at least two months after suffering a significant hamstring strain. The 29-year-old reliever has posted a 2.38 ERA across 11/3 innings for the Giants since making his season debut back in early May.
  • SF Catcher #13
Giants designated C Logan Porter for assignment.
Porter got into one game for the Giants last month while since-traded backstop Patrick Bailey was hurt. The 30-year-old is merely emergency catching depth at this stage of his career.
  • AZ 1st Baseman #26
Diamondbacks activated 1B/OF Pavin Smith from the 60-day injured list.
Smith is at DH and hitting fifth in his return to Arizona’s lineup on Monday against the Dodgers after missing nine weeks recovering from surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow. The 30-year-old figures to split time between first base and DH moving forward. He played in just two games before hitting the injured list back in late March.
  • AZ 1st Baseman #41
Diamondbacks transferred 1B Carlos Santana to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move frees up a spot on Arizona’s 40-man roster to bring Pavin Smith back from the 60-day injured list. Santana is facing a lengthy absence after suffering another adductor strain while on a minor league rehab assignment back in mid-May.
