Brault was limited to nine major league appearances by shoulder woes last season. The former Pirate could be of use in middle relief if healthy, but after two mostly lost seasons, he shouldn’t get any MLB offers this winter.

Jackson Holliday is still looking for more information about his wrist and isn’t expected back from the IL this week.

Holliday finishes a very disappointing year with a .229/.300/.340 line in 98 games. His hard-hit rate was just 33 percent, down from 40 percent last year and 45 percent in 60 games as a rookie in 2024. He wasn’t very good defensively at second base, either. Maybe the wrist took a toll on his offense, but all things considered, he shouldn’t be promised a starting job next spring.

This follows manager Craig Albernaz criticizing Jackson after Sunday’s game for swinging at the first pitch he saw in the sixth and grounding out after Chad Patrick had just thrown nine straight balls to load the bases. Jackson went 0-for-4 last night and 1-for-13 in the series against the Brewers.
