Bennett Sousa underwent season-ending surgery on Wednesday for thoracic outlet syndrome.
Sousa landed on the injured list at the conclusion of spring training with left shoulder inflammation and will wind up missing the remainder of the season. It’s a pretty big loss for Houston’s bullpen depth as the 28-year-old southpaw was one of their better left-handed relief options.

Agustín Ramírez doubled, walked, drove in a run and scored a pair on Friday as the Marlins triumphed over the Nationals 3-2 in Grapefruit League competition.
The dynamic 24-year-old backstop drew a walk in the opening inning and scored the game’s first run on an RBI single by Owen Caissie. Ramírez then smacked an RBI double off of Foster Griffin in the third inning and scored on Christopher Morel’s RBI single. It was a rare strong showing from Ramírez who has had a rough time during Grapefruit League play, hitting a paltry .053 (1-for-19) with an 8/1 K/BB ratio.
Who broke Dan Patrick's Sammy Sosa statue?
The I-Team is on the case to trace the culprit after Dan Patrick's Sammy Sosa statue was found in pieces at the Mancave.

Chris Paddack delivered another strong Grapefruit League start in Friday’s victory over the Nationals, allowing just one run on two hits over his four innings.
Paddack struck out three batters on the evening and didn’t allow a base on balls. The only run that the Nationals were able to score against him came on an RBI single by CJ Abrams in the second inning. The 30-year-old right-hander got nine whiffs on 51 offerings in the game, compiling a CSW of 24 percent. He finishes the spring with an outstanding 0.69 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and a 12/3 K/BB ratio over 13 innings in his five starts. Perhaps as we saw in the first half of the 2025 season, there’s still some mixed league viability to Paddack after all.
  • WSH Shortstop #5
CJ Abrams went 1-for-2 and drove in a run as the Nationals fell to the Marlins in Grapefruit League action on Friday evening.
Abrams got the Nationals on the board in the second inning of this one, plating Andres Chaparro with an RBI single off of Chris Paddack. He was batting in the second inning of this one because the 25-year-old shortstop found himself batting sixth in the Nationals’ lineup instead of his usual perch at the top. He has had a slow spring overall at the plate, slashing .243/.349/.378 with zero homers, two RBI and one stolen base in 43 plate appearances.

Foster Griffin wasn’t at his best in a losing effort against the Marlins on Friday night, allowing three runs on five hits across his five innings of work.
The 30-year-old hurler struck out five batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. The Marlins pushed a run across against him in the opening inning on an RBI single by Owen Caissie. They added on two more in the third on run-scoring knocks from Agustin Ramirez and Christopher Morel. Griffin got 12 swings and misses on 78 pitches on the night, posting a strong CSW of 35 percent. He wraps up the spring with a 4.50 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 9/2 K/BB ratio over eight innings in his two Grapefruit League starts. He’s expected to open the season at the backend of the Nationals’ though he’s unlikely to gain relevancy from a fantasy perspective.
  • NYY 3rd Baseman #95
Oswaldo Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI as the Yankees eked out a 3-1 victory over the Orioles in Friday night’s Grapefruit League tilt.
Cabrera finally broke through and started the scoring with an RBI single in the eighth inning of this one. He then came around to score on an RBI double off the bat of Ali Sanchez. THe 27-year-old infielder is still working his way back into full-time action after recovering from a fractured ankle that he suffered last May. He’s just 2-for-14 (.143) with a pair of runs scored and an RBI on the spring, but the important thing is that he’s healthy.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #81
Luis Gil was outstanding during Friday night’s Grapefruit League start against the Orioles, allowing just one hit over five scoreless frames.
Gil struck out seven opposing batters on the night while issuing only one base on balls. The lone hit that he allowed was a ground-rule double off the bat of Pete Alonso in the fourth inning. Gil got nine swings and misses on 69 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He finishes the spring with a 4.66 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 24/5 K/BB ratio over 19 1/3 innings in his six starts.
  • BAL 1st Baseman #25
Pete Alonso went 1-for-3 with a double as the Orioles fell to the Yankees in Grapefruit League action on Friday evening.
The 31-year-old slugger went down on a swinging third strike against Luis Gil in the opening inning. He got revenge his next time up, crushing a ground-rule double (110.3 mph EV) in the fourth inning but the O’s couldn’t cash him in from there. He has had a solid spring in his first camp with the Orioles, hitting .271 (13-for-48) with a pair of homers, three RBI and even a stolen base.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #24
Zach Eflin delivered a dominant performance against the Yankees in his final Grapefruit League start on Friday night, racking up seven strikeouts over five shutout innings.
Eflin allowed just one baserunner in the contest, a two-out double to Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the fifth inning. He retired the first 14 hitters that he faced in order, then punched out Ryan McMahon after Chisholm’s double to put an exclamation point on his evening. Eflin generated 11 swings and misses on 70 pitches on the evening, posting a solid CSW of 31 percent. He has been about as good as possible through his two spring starts, hurling 7 1/3 scoreless innings with a 10/1 K/BB ratio.
  • MIA Left Fielder #3
Esteury Ruiz was removed from Friday night’s Grapefruit League contest in the third inning due to an apparent injury to his side.
The 27-year-old speedster grabbed at his side after a swing in the third inning. On the same night that the Marlins had Kyle Stowers leave the game due to a hamstring issue, their outfield depth takes another hit as Ruiz makes an early exit. Look for the Marlins to provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.
  • ATL 1st Baseman #44
Braves signed 1B Rowdy Tellez to a minor league contract.
The 31-year-old slugger showed that he could still swing the bat during his time with Team Mexico for the World Baseball Classic. He’ll add depth at the Triple-A level for the Braves and can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.
