Mariners selected Mississippi State SHP Jurrangelo Cijntje with the No. 15 selection of the 2024 MLB Draft.
Yep, a switch-pitcher. Cijntje made 16 starts for the Bulldogs in 2024 with a 3.67 ERA and 113/30 K/BB over his 90 2/3 innings. Those numbers aren’t spectacular, but the 21-year-old is considered one of the most athletic pitchers in the class who offers more upside than your typical collegiate arm. As a right-hander he throws his heater up to 98 mph with an above-average slider, while he shows that same breaking-ball as a southpaw and typically sits in the low 90s. There’s some talk that Cijntje may just move to right-handed pitching full-time, but either way, the chance to miss bats as a starter makes him worth consideration in dynasty leagues.

Rangers recalled RHP Luis Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock.
Curvelo made four relief appearances for the Rangers earlier this year before hitting the injured list with a biceps strain on April 15. The 25-year-old figures to operate in middle relief situations for Texas.
Duran someone to add amid hot streak for Red Sox
Eric Samulski details Jarren Duran's recent hot streak for the Boston Red Sox and why he is someone to add in fantasy leagues whether via waivers or trade.
  • TEX 3rd Baseman #39
Rangers recalled INF Cody Freeman from Triple-A Round Rock.
Freeman joins the Rangers for a couple days as a bench bat while Sam Haggerty is away from the club on bereavement leave. The 25-year-old was on the shelf with a stress reaction in his back from the end of spring training until late May. He got into 36 games as a rookie last year.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher
Rangers optioned RHP Gavin Collyer to Triple-A Round Rock.
Collyer has been an up-and-down, low-leverage relief option for the Rangers this season, posting a serviceable 3.71 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 14/15 K/BB ratio across 17 innings of work. He’ll likely return in a couple weeks as a fresh middle relief arm.
  • TEX Left Fielder #0
Rangers placed OF Sam Haggerty on the bereavement list.
Haggerty will be away from the team for a couple days on bereavement leave. The 32-year-old has gotten into 36 games this season as a versatile role player for the Rangers.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #31
Rangers placed RHP Chris Martin on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 31, with a right shoulder impingement.
Martin’s absence leaves the Rangers without one of their better high-leverage arms behind Jacob Latz, who has seemingly taken over as the club’s closer. The 39-year-old veteran has dealt with shoulder issues for a couple years and is likely facing a multi-week absence.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #62
Rangers transferred LHP Robert Garcia to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move doesn’t impact Garcia’s return timeline since he’s been out with shoulder inflammation since late April. He’ll likely be out until after next month’s All-Star break.
  • COL 1st Baseman
TJ Rumfield (shoulder) remains out of the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Angels.
Rumfield remains out of Colorado’s lineup after being a late scratch from Sunday’s series finale against the Giants with right shoulder inflammation. The 26-year-old rookie standout missed one game last week with a hand contusion. It’ll be Edouard Julien taking over at the cold corner in his place.
  • LAA Shortstop #9
Zach Neto is in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Rockies.
Neto checked out fine after a scary-looking collision during Saturday’s contest against the Rays left him with some whiplash side effects. The 25-year-old shortstop went 0-for-4 on Sunday in his return to the lineup. He’s slashing an underwhelming .231/.339/.427 with 10 homers and eight steals in 274 plate appearances over 60 games this season.
  • AZ 3rd Baseman #28
Nolan Arenado is at third base and hitting cleanup for Monday’s series opener against the Dodgers.
Arenado went 0-for-4 in his return to Arizona’s lineup during Sunday’s game against the Mariners after missing three contests due to a combination of groin and elbow issues. The 35-year-old defensive wizard appears unlikely to miss any additional time moving forward.
  • SF 2nd Baseman #41
Giants selected the contract of INF Buddy Kennedy from Triple-A Sacramento.
Kennedy receives his first opportunity with the Giants after signing a minor league contract last offseason. The 27-year-old infielder has appeared in 67 games between five different teams since 2022. He’s struggled to gain any traction at the highest level despite posting some huge numbers at the Triple-A level.
