Zac Gallen tossed six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in a win over the Giants on Wednesday.
Gallen was outstanding on Wednesday, shutting the Giants out over six frames. He scattered four walks and did not allow a hit while striking out eight batters on his way to the win. The 29-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.69 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a 126/47 K/BB ratio across 127 innings. He’s in line for a matchup against the Rangers in Arizona on Tuesday.

Zac Veen is in right field and batting seventh on Tuesday against the Brewers.
Veen will make his highly-anticipated big-league debut on Tuesday night after hitting .387 with one homer, eight RBI and one steal in eight games for Triple-A Albuquerque. The 23-year-old former top prospect missed a ton of development time due to injury after being selected ninth overall back in 2020. He’s an above-average runner with decent contact skills, which should translate to high batting averages and a ton of stolen bases in Colorado. He’s worthy of a speculative roster spot in all fantasy formats as a potential high-impact five-category contributor.
  • TB Right Fielder #15
11 days after suffering an oblique strain, Josh Lowe is “moving pretty pain free,” manager Kevin Cash said.
“It’s still a ways, but we got to be happy with the way he’s his body is feeling,” Cash added. Lowe probably isn’t going to return during April, but that the Rays have been getting quality production from Jake Mangum and Kameron Misner has made his absence sting less.
  • TEX 3rd Baseman #6
Rangers activated 3B Josh Jung from the 10-day injured list.
Jung missed the minimum 10 days with his neck spasms. He will return as the Rangers’ starting third baseman, though with Josh Smith off to a nice start, he might sit more often than most would like. It doesn’t help that the Rangers won’t ever sit Marcus Semien to squeeze in Smith in a different spot once in a while. Ezequiel Duran was demoted to make room for Jung.
  • TEX 3rd Baseman #20
Rangers optioned INF Ezequiel Duran to Triple-A Round Rock.
The Rangers are keeping Jonathan Ornelas over Duran, perhaps in part because Corey Seager has been a little banged up. Also, Duran was 0-for-11 to start the year. He’s showed some offensive potential in the past, but the Rangers soured on him some last year, and he could be a change-of-scenery candidate.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #70
Rangers selected the contract of RHP Caleb Boushley from Triple-A Round Rock.
The 31-year-old Boushley, who served brief stints with the Brewers and Twins the last two years, will make his Rangers debut after allowing two runs in 8 1/3 innings for Round Rock. He’ll pitch out of the pen.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #58
Rangers optioned RHP Gerson Garabito to Triple-A Round Rock.
Garabito probably knew this was coming after he threw 51 pitches last night. He’d given up 12 runs — eight earned — in eight innings over three appearances.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #61
Rangers transferred LHP Cody Bradford from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list.
According to the last update received, Bradford, out with a sprained left elbow, is due to resume throwing in mid-April. Late May was the earliest he was going to return anyway, so this doesn’t make much of a difference.
  • WSH Shortstop #5
CJ Abrams, who missed Monday’s game with thigh tightness, is absent from the Nationals’ lineup for a second straight day Tuesday.
The Nationals are again using Paul DeJong at shortstop, but in a change from last night, Amed Rosario is getting the call over José Tena at third base against a lefty. The setup is a little interesting, only because Rosario, who lacks much experience at third base, was treated as the fallback shortstop this spring; he played just one game at third base in Grapefruit League, whereas DeJong played only one game at short.
  • PHI 3rd Baseman #37
Weston Wilson is beginning a rehab assignment Tuesday with low-A Clearwater.
Wilson missed all spring with his strained oblique, so the Phillies might want to get him a couple of weeks of at-bats before activating him. He’ll likely get Kody Clemens’ bench spot once he’s deemed ready.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #29
Tarik Skubal pitched four-hit ball for six innings in the Tigers’ 5-0 shutout of the Yankees on Tuesday.
Skubal’s first start without Jake Rogers behind the plate since 2023 looked much the same as usual. Every hit he allowed was a single, and he walked none while striking out six on a near-freezing day in Detroit. In spite of the cold, he averaged 97.4 mph with his fastball, topping out at 99.4. It’s the first win for Skubal after two losses to open the season. He’ll take a 3.78 ERA into his next start in Milwaukee.
