Zac Gallen tossed six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in a win over the Giants on Wednesday.
Gallen was outstanding on Wednesday, shutting the Giants out over six frames. He scattered four walks and did not allow a hit while striking out eight batters on his way to the win. The 29-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.69 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a 126/47 K/BB ratio across 127 innings. He’s in line for a matchup against the Rangers in Arizona on Tuesday.

Kyle Schwarber swatted in National League-leading 13th and 14th home runs on Sunday night, powering the Phillies to a 3-0 victory over the Guardians.
The 32-year-old slugger jumped on a 1-1 changeup from Luis L. Ortiz and blasted a 392-foot (112.5 mph EV) solo shot in the second inning to give the Phillies an early 1-0 advantage. He then walloped a 397-foot (107.3 mph EV) two-run shot off of Tim Herrin in the eighth inning to make it a 3-0 ballgame. Astonishingly, it’s his 18th multi-homer game since the start of the 2022 season. He’s tied with Aaron Judge for the major league lead with 14 long balls while slashing .269/.404/.593 with 32 RBI and four stolen bases through his first 40 games.
Reds, Greene 'avoid disaster' with groin strain
James Schiano explains how the Cincinnati Reds and pitcher Hunter Greene avoided disaster with his groin strain considering his history of arm injuries, and why fantasy managers should look to get him for cheap.
  • PHI 2nd Baseman #5
Bryson Stott went 1-for-3, walked, stole a base and scored a run as the Phillies triumphed over the Guardians on Sunday night.
Stott worked a walk off of Tim Herrin to start the eighth inning, swiped second base and then rode home on Kyle Schwarber’s second home run of the evening. He’s enjoying a solid season as a table-setter atop the Phillies’ lineup, slashing .262/.331/.390 with three homers, 20 RBI and eight stolen bases.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #68
Jordan Romano slammed the door on the Guardians on Sunday night, working a perfect ninth inning to protect a three-run advantage.
The 32-year-old right-hander had to tangle with the middle of the Guardians’ lineup and did so with relative ease, getting Daniel Schneemann on a swinging third strike, Jose Ramirez on a pop out to second base and Carlos Santana on a called third strike to end it. It’s the third save of the year for Romano who should continue to see the occasional save chance when Jose Alvarado is deployed against left-handed hitters in the eighth inning — like he was on Sunday.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #45
Zack Wheeler delivered a dominant performance in Sunday night’s victory over the Guardians, racking up eight strikeouts over seven innings of shutout baseball.
Wheeler allowed just three hits and a pair of walks on the evening. Twice the 34-year-old right-hander faced jams of having two runners on base with only one out, and neither time could the Guardians advance a runner past second base. He generated 13 swings and misses on 93 pitches in the contest — nine of them on his heater — while posting a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he totes a stellar 2.95 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and a 74/11 K/BB ratio (58 innings) into Saturday’s battle against the Pirates.
  • CLE Center Fielder #38
Steven Kwan went 2-for-3 with a double as the Guardians were shut out by Zack Wheeler and the Phillies on Sunday night.
As a team, the Guardians were only able to muster three total hits in the contest, with Kwan accounting for two of them himself — including a double off of Zack Wheeler. He’s having another terrific season atop the Guardians’ lineup, slashing .331/.393/.459 with four homers, 17 RBI and five stolen bases.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #45
Luis L. Ortiz pitched well in a losing effort against the Phillies on Sunday night, allowing just one run on four hits over six strong frames.
The 26-year-old hurler racked up nine strikeouts on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. The only blemish on his evening came on a solo blast off the bat of Kyle Schwarber in the second inning. That would be all the support that Zack Wheeler would need. Ortiz got 14 whiffs on 95 pitches on the night — eight of them on his slider — while registering a terrific CSW of 35 percent. Now 2-4 on the season, he’ll attempt to replicate this fine effort as he carries a 4.78 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 49/21 K/BB ratio (43 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Reds in Cincinnati.
  • MIA Center Fielder #3
Derek Hill (wrist) is expected to be activated from the injured list prior to Monday’s series opener against the Cubs in Chicago.
The 29-year-old outfielder has been shelved for three weeks due to a sprained wrist, but he has looked good on a recent minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville and will join the team in Chicago. Prior to landing on the shelf, Hill was hitting a meager .167/.239/.286 with one homer, three RBI and three stolen bases in his first 42 at-bats.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #22
Clayton Kershaw (toe, knee) pitched four innings in Sunday’s minor league rehab start at Triple-A Oklahoma City, giving up two runs on two hits.
The 37-year-old southpaw walked two and struck out two in the contest, throwing 35 of his 57 total pitches for strikes. There have been rumblings that Kershaw could be cleared to rejoin the Dodgers rotation following this latest start, but Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts has yet to confirm that. If he does rejoin the rotation next weekend, fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him to work deep into his first start, as he’s only built up to 57 pitches at the moment.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #48
T.J. McFarland was removed from Sunday’s game against the Yankees with a groin injury.
No word yet on the severity of the injury, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the 35-year-old southpaw ultimately require a trip to the injured list. He had faced just one batter — throwing only three pitches in the eighth inning — before exiting. The A’s should have an update on his status on Monday.
  • LAD 1st Baseman #5
Freddie Freeman went 4-for-4 with a homer, two doubles and three RBI on Sunday, leading the Dodgers to an 8-1 victory over the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
The 35-year-old slugger opened the scoring in the contest with a run-scoring double off of Zac Gallen in the opening inning. He tacked on a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning and then clobbered a 405-foot solo shot off of Joe Mantiply in the seventh inning that extended the Dodgers’ advantage to 5-0. He has been absolutely sizzling at the dish this season, slashing .376/.437/.734 with nine homers and 33 RBI. The only thing that he hasn’t done from a fantasy perspective is run, with zero stolen bases in one attempt.
