Red Sox signed LHP Erik Rivera to minor league contract.
A fourth-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, Rivera was a minor league free agent after four years in the Angels system. Rivera has battled injuries throughout his minor league career, pitching just 3.1 innings in 2021, missing the entire 2022 season, returning for 22 innings in 2023, and then pitching 35 1/3 innings in 2024. He does have a 3.26 career minor league ERA and 61 strikeouts in 49 2/3 innings, so perhaps the Red Sox can get something out of his arm if he can stay healthy.
