Rule 5 pick Anderson Pilar gave up seven runs while recording just three outs against the Phillies on Thursday.
The homer Pilar allowed was just a 337-footer from Trea Turner, but he can’t blame bad luck for walking three and throwing only 28 of 54 pitches for strikes. Pilar will most likely be returned to the Marlins prior to the end of the spring.

Roman Anthony is not in the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against Dustin May and the Cardinals.
It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 21-year-old outfielder. Jarren Duran will cover left field in his place while Masataka Yoshida joins the lineup as the designated hitter and will bat third for the Red Sox. Anthony is off to a very slow start at the dish, slashing just .217/.308/.348 with one homer, two RBI and one stolen base in his first 52 plate appearances.

James Schiano outlines just how impressive Mason Miller has been for the Padres.

Athletics recalled INF Zack Gelof from Triple-A Las Vegas.
The dynamic 26-year-old infielder was off to a hot start at Triple-A Las Vegas, slashing .366/.519/.732 with four homers, 10 RBI, three stolen bases and an impressive 7/13 K/BB ratio over 54 plate appearances in his first 11 games. Gelof is not in the A’s starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against Clay Holmes and the Mets in New York.
  • ATH Right Fielder #25
Athletics placed OF Brent Rooker on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain.
Rooker suffered the injury while swinging a bat during the first inning of Thursday’s contest against the Yankees. We have still yet to hear about the severity of the injury, but even the mildest of oblique strains usually require at least a couple of weeks of rest to fully heal. Zack Gelof was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to take his place on the A’s active roster.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #17
José Berríos (elbow) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.
The expectation is that the 31-year-old hurler will throw around 50 pitches in his first rehab start and build up from there. If everything goes according to plan, he could be an option to join the Jays’ rotation in late April or early May.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #57
Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Rays are looking to have Drew Rasmussen start on Sunday against the Yankees.
Topkin notes that there are still discussions to be had before that’s confirmed though. Rasmussen missed his start on Tuesday as his wife went into labor and he landed on the paternity list. If he does indeed go on Sunday, that means Shane McClanahan will have his start pushed back until Tuesday against the White Sox in Chicago.
  • ATH Right Fielder #25
Brent Rooker (right flank discomfort) is not in the Athletics’ starting lineup on Friday against the Mets.
Zach Gelof was spotted in the clubhouse by MLB.com’s Martin Gallegos and it would not be surprising if Rooker was sent to the injured list, though it hasn’t happened yet. Carlos Cortes is DHing for the A’s in Rooker’s absence.
  • MIA 3rd Baseman #63
Marlins recalled 1B/3B Deyvison De Los Santos from Triple-A Jacksonville.
We’ll see if De Los Santos can crack the Marlins lineup in his second stint with the club in the last couple weeks. He’s not in the lineup tonight as Javier Sanoja handles left field with a righty on the mound. Until then, he’s a speculative pickup at best and probably is someone fantasy managers should monitor rather than rush to the waiver wire for.
  • MIA Left Fielder #18
Marlins placed OF Griffin Conine on the 10-day injured list with a torn hamstring.
Conine was off to a nice start at the head of a platoon in left field for the Marlins, but will likely miss significant time with this and surgery is likely for the 28-year-old left fielder. Heriberto Hernández has been the starter against lefties and figures to get some of Conine’s time, but it may not be quite as open-and-shut as that with Deyvison De Los Santos up from Triple-A Jacksonville and Kyle Stowers due back soon.
  • BAL Left Fielder #17
Colton Cowser is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Giants.
Cowser has now played in just three of the last six games for the Orioles as Tyler O’Neill and Dylan Beavers are both pushing for playing time. Cowser is hitting just .182/.269/.227 with no homers and steals through his first 27 plate appearances and doesn’t necessarily have the look of someone who needs to be rostered in 12-team leagues.
  • TB Center Fielder #14
Chandler Simpson is batting leadoff for the Rays against the Yankees on Friday.
It’s his first appearance in the leadoff spot all season, and he’s typically hit fifth or lower in the lineup. It would be great news for Simpson’s fantasy value if this continued. The speedester is off to a .391/.429/.435 start in his first 49 plate appearances and has five steals over that timespan.
