There wasn’t much reason for the Angels to give Anderson a shot in the first place, and there’s no point in keeping him on the roster now. He’s batting .200/.256/.238 with no homers and a 28/3 K/BB in 87 plate appearances. He has twice as many plate appearances as Kevin Newman, who has also been very bad this season but at least was decent recently. Anderson is nearing three years of being a major liability.

Suarez has been on the shelf with a forearm strain since late June. He’ll need at least a couple weeks to ramp up his throwing progression before he’s ready to return to Atlanta’s high-leverage relief mix.

Morgan will remain stationed on the doorstep of the majors after wrapping up a minor league rehab assignment. The 26-year-old righty hit the injured list with left knee inflammation back in late June.

Meyer has been on the injured list with a neck strain since last month’s All-Star break. It’ll be challenging for the 27-year-old to make it back before the end of the regular season since he’s essentially going to have to start his throwing progression from the ground floor. However, Marlins manager Clayton McCullough has expressed optimism that he’ll return this season. There should be a definitive update on his status at some point in the coming days.

It’s notable that Contreras remains in Boston’s lineup since he’s been battling a lingering hamstring issue, according to MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo. The ongoing issue, in addition to a laundry list of other recent physical ailments, seem to be impacting his on-field results as he’s hitting .167 (4-for-24) with zero extra-base hits in seven games since the start of August. He’s been the lynchpin for Boston’s offense during their remarkable turnaround, but he’s clearly struggling and could probably use a break. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status heading into Thursday’s series finale in Toronto.

Semien takes a seat with Brett Baty getting the nod at the keystone in this one. The 35-year-old veteran second baseman has homered five times in 22 games since last month’s All-Star break, but he’s batting just .203 (15-for-74) during that span.

Meidroth is back at shortstop and hitting sixth following a relatively brief two-game absence due to a left wrist issue. The 25-year-old middle infielder has hit .274/.350/.404 with 67 runs scored, 11 homers, 46 RBI and two steals in 475 plate appearances across 113 games this season.

Naylor returns to first base and will hit sixth following a one-game absence due to right wrist soreness. The 29-year-old has been a disappointment from an over-the-fence power and batting average standpoint, hitting just .263 with 10 homers across 474 plate appearances in 111 games. He’s managed to salvage his season from a fantasy perspective by tallying 23 stolen bases, putting him on pace for his second consecutive 30-steal campaign.

Bazzana has sat against two of the three lefties the Guardians have faced since the callup of Angel Genao, who is playing second base and batting seventh tonight. It seems like it’ll be a trend unless an injury opens up more time for Genao at other positions. Bazzana is hitting just .192/.302/.240 against southpaws thus far.

Okamoto is DHing tonight, suggesting the knee is still bothering him some. George Springer is taking a seat with Okamoto in his spot.

Bloss was making his way back from Tommy John when he suffered a teres major injury last month. Apparently, it was a season ender. The move opens up a spot on the 40-man for Paul Sewald and gets Bloss a major league paycheck and service time for the next seven weeks.
