Michael McGreevy was hit hard in a no-decision against the Cubs on Tuesday night, giving up five runs on seven hits across 4 2/3 frames.
The 24-year-old right-hander walked one batter on the evening while striking out one. All of the damage done against him came in the third inning as Kyle Tucker smacked a two-run single and Seiya Suzuki followed with a three-run blast. Still, McGreevy was just one out away from qualifying for a victory but couldn’t wiggle his way out of the fifth inning. He got just five swings and misses on 77 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 27 percent. McGreevy now sports a 4.22 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 16/3 K/BB ratio over 21 1/3 innings in four appearances (three starts) with the Cardinals this season. He’s expected to head back to Triple-A Memphis after this spot start.
