Xander Bogaerts was a late scratch from Wednesday’s lineup against the Nationals due to left shoulder soreness.
Bogaerts was slated to play shortstop for the finale against the Nationals, but the soreness will force him to take a break. Jose Iglesias moves over to shortstop from second base, and Tyler Wade will get the start at second base. For now, consider Bogaerts day-to-day.

Luken Baker clubbed a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning on Thursday, powering the Diamondbacks to an improbable 13-10 victory over the Royals in Cactus League play.
The Diamondbacks entered the home half of the fifth inning trailing 8-0, but they never gave up. They were trailing 10-9 entering the eighth but tied it up on an RBI single by Kristian Robinson before Baker crushed a 408-foot (109.5 mph EV) three-run shot off of Shane Panzini to put the Diamondbacks ahead for good. Baker also drew a walk in the ballgame, finishing the afternoon 1-for-1 with a pair of runs scored. He’ll need a monster spring to have a shot at cracking the Opening Day roster.
Target Abreu late for fantasy RP amid Hader injury
Eric Samulski and James Schiano look at the 'landmine-y' world of fantasy relief pitchers and explain why Josh Hader's injury gives Bryan Abreu a massive boost in value.

Eduardo Rodriguez pitched well in his Cactus League debut on Thursday, scattering three hits over two scoreless innings against the Royals.
The 32-year-old southpaw didn’t strike out or walk a batter in the contest. All three hits that he allowed came in the second inning and were all singles — though he coaxed a double play ball out of Jac Caglianone to avoid any damage. He’s coming off of a brutal 2025 season in which he registered a 5.02 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP across 154 1/3 innings, but we have seen the type of upside Rodriguez can have when he is going well.
  • KC Right Fielder #14
Jac Caglianone had another strong day at the plate in Thursday’s loss to the Diamondbacks, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
The 23-year-old slugger started the scoring in the slugfest with an RBI single in the third inning. He then advanced on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single by Carter Jensen. Caglianone then delivered a two-run double in the fifth that increased the Royals’ lead to 5-0 before scoring on an RBI double off the bat of Michael Massey. Despite the struggles in his debut, Caglianone possesses massive power upside heading into the 2026 campaign, especially with the Royals moving in and lowering their fences.
  • KC Catcher #22
Carter Jensen went 3-for-3 and blasted his first home run of the Cactus League season on Thursday as the Royals fell to the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
Jansen singled with two outs in the opening inning but the Royals were unable to cash him in. He then drove in Jac Caglianone with an RBI single in the fourth inning that extended his club’s advantage to 2-0. He then walloped a 416-foot (102.2 mph EV) two-run shot off of Teofilo Mendez in the fifth that made it an 8-0 ballgame. Jansen should see regular action in the Royals’ lineup to start the season, both as the backup to Salvador Perez behind the dish and as a designated hitter, giving him plenty of utility for fantasy purposes — especially in two-catcher leagues.
  • KC Pitcher #38
Ryan Bergert looked sharp in Thursday’s Cactus League start against the Diamondbacks, retiring all six hitters that he faced over two scoreless innings.
Bergert needed just 26 pitches (17 strikes) to get the job done on Thursday, including punchouts of Gabriel Moreno and Nolan Arenado. The right-hander generated five swings and misses on the day, registering a solid CSW of 27 percent. After showing a spike in velocity in his spring debut, he was much closer to his 2025 average with his fastball at 93.9 mph (+0.5 mph) in this one. He would make for an interesting late-round option for fantasy purposes if he can wiggle his way into the club’s Opening Day rotation.
  • LAA Infield #19
Kyren Paris went 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI as the Angels rallied to beat the Cubs 5-4 in Cactus League play on Thursday.
Paris delivered the equalizer in the fifth inning, plating Gustavo Campero with an RBI single off of Jaxon Wiggins that made it a 4-4 ballgame. He then scored the go-ahead run on Chris Taylor’s RBI double. After bursting onto the scene in 2025, Paris is going to need a very strong showing in Cactus League play in order to secure a bench spot on the Halos’ Opening Day roster.
  • LAA Right Fielder #51
Gustavo Campero went 1-for-3 with a two-run triple on Thursday, helping to lead the Angels to a come-from-behind victory over the Cubs.
Campero did his damage in the fifth inning, smacking a two-run triple off of Jaxon Wiggins that pulled the Halos to within a run at 4-3. He then scored the tying run as Kyren Paris delivered an RBI single. The 28-year-old outfielder is hitting .250 (2-for-8) with three RBI in the early going this spring as he looks to secure a reserve role on the Angels’ Opening Day roster.
  • LAA Pitcher #59
José Soriano had another rough Cactus League start on Thursday, giving up three runs on five hits over his three frames against the Cubs.
On the plus side, the 27-year-old hurler did manage to punch out four batters on the afternoon while issuing just one free pass. The Cubs scratched out a run in the opening inning on an RBI double by Dylan Carlson. Soriano then allowed a Pedro Ramirez sacrifice fly in the second inning and plunked Michael Busch with the bases loaded to force in another. Despite the ineffectiveness, Soriano threw 40 of his 59 pitches for strikes in the contest and showed increased velocity across the board, averaging 98.9 mph on his fastball (+1.0 mph). He’ll need to work on that 17.18 ERA though if fantasy managers are going to have any confidence in him heading into the start o the regular season.
  • CHC Center Fielder #15
Dylan Carlson went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in a pair of runs on Thursday, but it wasn’t enough to propel the Cubs past the Angels.
The former top prospect opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI double off of José Soriano in the top half of the first inning. He then added a run-scoring single in the fourth inning that extended the Cubs’ lead to 4-1. He’s facing an uphill battle at earning a spot on the Cubs’ Opening Day roster, but is off to a terrific start — hitting .500 (4-for-8) with a couple of RBI and a 2/3 K/BB ratio.
  • CHC Pitcher #16
Matthew Boyd was exceptional during Thursday’s Cactus League tuneup against the Angels, retiring all nine batters that he faced in order.
The 35-year-old southpaw made a statement in the opening inning, getting Zach Neto on a ground ball before striking out Mike Trout and Yoan Moncada in succession. He then got a couple of weak ground balls to start the second before punching out Travis d’Arnaud. With his pitch count in a manageable range, Boyd returned for the third where he once again set down the Angels in order. Overall, he threw 23 of his 34 pitches for strikes, generating seven swings and misses and registering a CSW of 29 percent. This is likely to be his final start before Boyd leaves to join the Team USA for the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
