Grant Taylor slammed the door on the Rockies on Friday night, protecting a one-run advantage to earn his third save of the season.
The talented 23-year-old right-hander came on with a one-run lead to protect in the ninth inning and he made sure that it stood up. Taylor struck out Jordan Beck to open the inning, then retired Thairo Estrada on a line drive to left. He did allow a two-out single to Mickey Moniak that put the tying run on base, but he rallied to punch out Ryan McMahon to seal the victory for the White Sox. Taylor now sports a 4.38 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 14/3 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 innings on the season. He looks like the clear favorite for save chances in the White Sox’ bullpen at the moment, making him relevant in all mixed leagues.
