Michael Tonkin worked hitless 10th and 11th innings against the Royals to earn his first win for the Twins since 2016.
Tonkin debuted for the Twins in 2013, but he notched just three wins in 141 appearances over five seasons before departing for Japan. He won seven times for the Braves in 2023 and four times for the Mets and Yankees last season, but his last win for the Twins was on September 29, 2016, also against the Royals. Alas, he didn’t face Salvador Perez in that one. He struck out Perez for his final out in the top of the 11th today.
