Red Sox recalled RHP Zack Kelly from Triple-A Worcester.

Kelly has a 5.56 ERA in 22 2/3 innings out of Boston’s pen this season. He’s returning now despite giving up seven runs over six innings in his last five appearances for Worcester.

Pete Fairbanks left Monday’s game against the Red Sox with a trainer.

Fairbanks left with a trainer following leadoff walk to Mickey Gasper in the ninth inning of a tie ballgame. The 32-year-old has a lengthy injury history and it wouldn’t be surprising if this were an injured list situation. There should be an update on his status after the game. It would likely be Calvin Faucher taking over as Miami’s closer in his absence.
Pages heads to IL, no longer fantasy relevant
Eric Samulski gives the latest on Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages as he was placed on IL and will no longer be relevant for fantasy managers as he is expected to be out most of the remainder of the regular season.

Ezequiel Tovar was removed from Monday’s game against the Nationals with a left wrist strain.

Tovar was lifted from the contest after landing awkwardly while trying to make a diving catch in shallow left field in the fifth inning. He was 2-for-2 with a solo homer prior to departing. He’ll undergo further evaluation and imaging to determine the severity of the issue. It certainly looks like an injured list situation. It would likely be rookie Cole Carrigg taking over as Colorado’s shortstop in his absence.

Chase DeLauter was scratched from the lineup for Monday’s game against the Angels with left hamstring tightness.

DeLauter has been battling a lingering hamstring issue for the last week. There’s always a possibility this turns into an injured list situation, but that seems unlikely given the Guardians have allowed him to play through the issue recently. There should be additional clarity on his status in the coming days, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

Joc Pederson was ejected from Monday’s game against the White Sox.

Pederson walked and struck out in a pair of plate appearances before being tossed by home plate umpire Chris Guccione in the second inning. He appeared to be voicing his displeasure from the dugout after not being allowed to challenge a called third strike earlier in the frame when he was given the boot.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Juan Burgos from Triple-A Reno.

Burgos rejoins Arizona’s bullpen mix for Monday’s series opener against the Cubs after spending a couple weeks back in the minors. The 26-year-old made a pair of appearances for the Diamondbacks earlier this season. He’ll operate in middle relief situations.

Diamondbacks optioned LHP Mitch Bratt to Triple-A Reno.

Bratt heads back to the minors after allowing three runs over just three innings in his latest start against the Reds over the weekend. The 23-year-old rookie southpaw has posted a pedestrian 4.54 ERA and 25/28 K/BB ratio across 39 2/3 innings in his big-league debut.

Cubs sent INF Owen Miller outright to Triple-A Iowa.

Miller earns a ticket back to the minors after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 29-year-old journeyman was removed from Chicago’s 40-man roster last week after appearing in just one game.

Twins manager Derek Shelton said Joe Ryan (glute) will face hitters in a live batting practice session on Wednesday.

Ryan remains without a definitive return timeline, but Shelton added that he’ll require a rehab assignment before returning to Minnesota’s rotation. The 30-year-old ace has been out with a glute strain that put him on the injured list earlier this month. It sounds like there’s optimism he’ll make it back at some point in September.

Giants recalled OF Grant McCray from Triple-A Sacramento.

McCray returns to the big leagues amidst San Francisco’s flurry of roster moves leading into Monday’s series opener against the Reds. He’s been a complete non-factor at the plate this season, hitting .081 (3-for-37) with one homer and four steals in 23 games. He’ll occupy a spot on the bench for now.

Giants recalled RHP Ryan Walker from Triple-A Sacramento.

Walker gets another shot with San Francisco after struggling in his previous go-around. The 30-year-old former closer is likely ticketed for middle relief work for now. He’s struggled to a bloated 7.52 ERA across 26 1/3 innings of work at the highest level this season.
