He’s on pace to finish as a top-five fantasy contributor at both third base and shortstop and will be an early-round selection in drafts next spring.

Sears drew the starting assignment in place of Keider Montero, who was away from the club back in Venezuela on paternity leave, and managed to dodge some early traffic before Rockies middle-of-the-order force Hunter Goodman tagged him for a three-run shot in the third inning. He piled up five strikeouts and only issued one walk. The 24-year-old rookie is likely to operate in long relief if he sticks around with Detroit beyond this outing.

Gordon coughed up 10 hits, including a solo homer to Kevin McGonigle. He finished with five strikeouts and only issued one walk. It was the third time in his last five starts that he’s allowed four earned runs or more. He’s not a recommended fantasy option when he faces the division-rival Padres on Thursday.

Teel did go 2-for-2 off the bench last night. His previous four starts since coming off the IL had all come batting ninth. With Teel batting second, Miguel Vargas and Munetaka Murakami are sliding down one spot to third and fourth, respectively. Braden Montgomery, who has typically hit fifth and sixth since his callup, is batting ninth for the first time.
