The Mets are hiring Guardians field coordinator Kai Correa as their new bench coach, reports Sports Illustrated’s Pat Ragazzo.
Ragazzo adds that Correa spent the last two seasons overseeing Cleveland’s baserunning and game strategy under manager Stephen Vogt. He was with the Giants as a bench coach for three seasons from 2020-2023. The 36-year-old adds a fresh voice to the dugout for Mets manager Carlos Mendoza as he enters his third season at the helm in New York.

Mets optioned C Hayden Senger to Triple-A Syracuse.
Senger heads back to the minors with Juan Soto back from the injured list. The 29-year-old didn’t end up making an appearance for the Mets after being called up last weekend.
Inside the numbers behind Wood's 'power surge'
Eric Samulski breaks down the numbers behind James Wood's increased offensive output over his last five games, where signs point to more encouraging results after his 34-HR season in 2025.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #54
Tigers selected the contract of RHP Burch Smith from Triple-A Toledo.
Smith gets his shot with the Tigers after spending a couple weeks on the doorstep of the majors. The 36-year-old journeyman righty was in Detroit’s camp as a non-roster invitee this spring. He’s posted a pedestrian 5.79 ERA across 247 1/3 innings in the big leagues since 2013.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #83
Tigers optioned LHP Enmanuel De Jesus to Triple-A Toledo.
De Jesus has been hit hard this season, surrendering 12 runs on 16 hits with a 9/6 K/BB ratio over eight innings of work over six appearances. The 29-year-old lefty was rocked for seven runs – five earned – over 1 1/3 innings during Tuesday’s blowout loss to the Brewers.
  • NYY 1st Baseman #22
Ben Rice is on the bench for Wednesday’s game against the Red Sox.
Rice has started to receive more opportunities against left-handed starters, but the Yankees are going to let veteran Paul Goldschmidt take his hacks against Red Sox southpaw Ranger Suárez in this one. The 27-year-old rising star figures to be back in there to face rookie lefty Payton Tolle during Thursday’s series finale.
  • TEX Left Fielder #36
Wyatt Langford (forearm) is absent from the lineup for Wednesday’s contest against the Pirates.
There’s been no indication that Langford is heading to the injured list following an early exit from Tuesday’s game with right forearm tightness. The 24-year-old fantasy superstar dealt with a quad issue earlier this season that caused him to miss a couple games. There should be some clarity on his status once the Rangers get his MRI results back and determine whether he needs a trip to the injured list. Ezequiel Duran takes over in left field on Wednesday night.
  • BOS Right Fielder #19
Roman Anthony is out of the lineup for Wednesday’s showdown against the Yankees with back tightness.
It sounds like a precautionary decision with Red Sox skipper Alex Cora expressing optimism Anthony will return to the lineup for Thursday’s series finale against New York. The 21-year-old former top prospect has gotten off to a frosty start at the dish this season, slashing an underwhelming .225/.361/.325 with one homer, four RBI and two steals through 22 games. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
  • MIL 2nd Baseman #2
Brice Turang is leading off for the second straight game on Wednesday against the Tigers.
Turang finds himself atop Milwaukee’s lineup once again after going 2-for-5 with four RBI during Tuesday’s blowout victory. The 26-year-old speedster has been one of the most impactful fantasy second baseman this season, hitting .307/.430/.560 with four homers and 18 RBI across 20 games. Sal Frelick, who led off for the first month of the year, has been dropped to seventh on the lineup card.
  • KC 3rd Baseman #11
Maikel Garcia made an early exit from Wednesday’s game against the Orioles.
Garcia was replaced by Nick Loftin at third base in the sixth inning after going 0-for-3 out of the leadoff spot. There should be an additional update on his status shortly.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher
Red Sox selected the contract of LHP Eduardo Rivera from Triple-A Worcester.
Rivera arrives in the big leagues shortly after being promoted to Triple-A Worcester earlier this week. The 22-year-old lefty provides Boston with some additional long relief depth while they deal with injuries and depth issues in their starting rotation mix. He’s unlikely to offer enough volume to make an impact for fantasy purposes before he’s shipped back to the minors.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher
Red Sox optioned RHP Jack Anderson to Triple-A Worcester.
Anderson pitched well in three relief appearances for the Red Sox, allowing three runs over eight innings of work. He’ll return to the minors until Boston has the flexibility to bring him back in a couple weeks.
