Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the White Sox have a deal in place to acquire right-hander Jordan Hicks from the Red Sox.
The White Sox will also receive pitching prospect David Sandlin in the trade. No word yet on what’s going back to the Red Sox, but it seems like more of a salary dump on their part than anything else as Hicks is owed $25 million over the next two seasons. The 29-year-old pitcher should find high leverage work at the back end of the White Sox’ bullpen in front of closer Seranthony Dominguez. Hicks posted a 6.95 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and a 58/32 K/BB ratio over 67 1/3 innings between the Giants and Red Sox in 2025.

Cody Bradford (elbow) will incorporate breaking balls into his bullpen session for the first time on Tuesday since undergoing surgery to repair a UCL injury in his left elbow.
It will be the seventh bullpen session that the 27-year-old southpaw has thrown this offseason, but the first that won’t be comprised of all fastballs. Bradford is on schedule in his recovery and is still targeting May for a return to the Rangers.

Braves’ right-hander Robert Suarez will be a late arrival to spring training due to visa issues.
That explains why the 34-year-old hurler wasn’t seen around camp when pitchers and catchers reported. No word yet on how long Suarez will need to resolve the visa issue, but it won’t impact his availability for the start of the regular season. He’s expected to function in a setup capacity in front of incumbent closer Raisel Iglesias.
  • ATL Catcher #28
Braves signed C Jonah Heim to a one-year contract.
No word yet on the financial terms of the agreement. With Sean Murphy expected to miss time to open the season, the Braves needed to add quality depth behind the plate and they do so by picking up the best option that was still available on the open market. Heim should begin the season as the backup to Drake Baldwin, though he’s unlikely to see enough playing time to gain relevancy from a fantasy perspective.
  • Braves placed RHP Spencer Schwellenbach on the 60-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.
Ouch. That’s never the news that you want to hear to open spring training. The last update that we got from Braves’ president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos back in November was that Schwellenbach was pain-free. The Braves are hopeful that he’s just dealing with bone spurs, but it’s going to cost him the first two months of the season at a minimum. It’s a tough early break for the Braves and for fantasy managers who may have invested in Schwellenbach in early drafts.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #19
Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports that the Rockies have agreed to a one-year contract with free agent right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano.
The 36-year-old hurler made the transition to Major League Baseball in 2025 and started out strong, posting a 3.38 ERA over 80 innings in his first 14 starts for the Orioles. He then stumbled to a 5.96 ERA over 77 innings in his final 16 starts. Sugano served up a league-leading 33 home runs in 2025, an issue that will only be compounded by pitching half of his games at Coors Field. For fantasy purposes, just stay away.
  • BOS Pitcher #89
Red Sox placed RHP Tanner Houck on the 60-day injured list.
Houck is set to miss the majority of the 2026 season while recovering from a hybrid reconstruction of the right ulnar collateral ligament with flexor tendon repair in his right elbow, so this move was inevitable. If he does return, it would likely only be for a start or two in September where he’d still face workload limitations. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues can find better use of their late round picks.
  • BOS Shortstop #7
Red Sox signed INF Isiah Kiner-Falefa to a one-year, $6 million contract.
The deal, which was agreed upon last week, is now official. The versatile 30-year-old infielder is likely to see most of his action with the Red Sox as a pinch runner or defensive replacement, due to his overall limitations offensively. He can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.
  • SF Pitcher #73
Giants placed RHP Randy Rodríguez on the 60-day injured list.
Rodríguez is in the process of recovering from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and is expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2026 season. Even if he does make it back at the end of the season, he’s unlikely to immediately factor into the mix for saves, so there’s no reason to be looking his way in redraft leagues. Placing him on the 60-day injured list frees up a spot on the Giants’ 40-man roster so they could make the signing of Luis Arraez official on Tuesday.
  • SF Infield
Giants signed INF Luis Arraez to a one-year, $12 million contract.
The deal, which was agreed to at the end of January, is official now that Arraez has passed his physical. Randy Rodriguez was placed on the 60-day injured list to free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster. The 28-year-old infielder chose the Giants in large part because they were willing to let him play second base regularly, so expect them to give him plenty of runway at the position to start the season, regardless of how he performs defensively.
  • SF 1st Baseman #78
Bryce Eldridge (wrist) told reporters on Tuesday that he’s a full go for the start of spring training.
The 21-year-old slugger underwent surgery in October to remove a bone spur from his wrist. While it delayed his usual offseason routine, Eldridge said he has been swinging a bat since mid-December and won’t have any restrictions in spring training. Eldridge and Rafael Devers are expected to cover the first base and designated hitter spots in the Giants’ lineup for the upcoming season.
