  • SD Right Fielder #23

Fernando Tatis Jr. delivered a grand slam and a two-run single as the Dominican Republic topped Israel 10-1 on Monday to advance to the quarterfinals of the WBC.
The Dominican win also advances Venezuela to the quarters ahead of their showdown Wednesday, but that game still matters a great deal; the winner will face Korea in the next round, while the loser will have to take on Japan. Tatis is the third player ever to knock in six runs in a WBC game. Oneil Cruz also homered and reached base four times.
  • TEX Center Fielder #32

All of Evan Carter, Joc Pederson, and Josh Smith are on the bench against the Orioles on Wednesday.
With left-hander Trevor Rogers on the mound, the Rangers will sit a few of their left-handed hitters. Smith has made one start this season against a lefty, but has sat out the last two. Andrew McCutchen will start in right field and bat fifth, Ezequiel Duran will start at second base and hit eighth, and Sam Haggerty will start in left field and bat ninth.
Messick's start vs. LAD puts him on fantasy radars
After Parker Messick spun six scoreless innings against the Dodgers' ferocious lineup, Eric Samulski says fantasy managers should be "buying into" the Guardians starting pitcher.
  • PHI 1st Baseman #3
Bryce Harper will start at first base and bat second for the Phillies on Wednesday against the Nationals.
Harper has gone 2-for-20 to start the season with four strikeouts and two walks. Perhaps the Phillies feel that hitting in front of Kyle Schwarber will provide more protection for Harper and allow him to see better pitches to hit.
  • COL Catcher #37
Rockies optioned C Braxton Fulford to Triple-A Albuquerque
With Tyler Freeman (back) coming off the IL, Fulford will head back to Triple-A after not having started a game since coming up over the weekend.
  • COL Right Fielder #2
Rockies activated OF Tyler Freeman (back) from the 10-day injured list.
It was expected that Freeman would start the season as a short-side platoon with either Jordan Beck or Mickey Moniak. Now, Moniak (finger) is also on the injured list, so there is a chance that Freeman could push Beck for playing time in the outfield or perhaps hit well enough to push Edouard Julien out of the DH spot.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #39
White Sox selected the contract of RHP Lucas Sims from Triple-A Charlotte.
Sims has thrown one scoreless inning in Triple-A this season, but the White Sox will bring the veteran up to have a spot in their bullpen. He struggled last season in Washington and has not been a high-impact reliever for a few years now.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #63
White Sox designated RHP Jedixson Paez for assignment.
This is a rough break for Paez. The 22-year-old had never pitched above High-A but was selected by the White Sox in the Rule 5 draft, so they had to keep him on the MLB roster or give him back to the Red Sox. He lasted a week on the roster and will now be available to other teams on waivers. He is likely to pass through and be free to join any organization.
  • BAL 3rd Baseman #11
Orioles transferred 3B Jordan Westburg (elbow) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
The Orioles needed a spot on the 40-man roster for Albert Suarez to move into the rotation, so they transferred Westburg. While nothing has materially changed with Westburg’s recovery from a UCL injury, this does mean he can’t return before May 21st at the earliest.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #49
Orioles selected the contract of RHP Albert Suárez from Triple-A Norfolk.
With Zach Eflin going on the injured list, it will be Suárez who is added to the 40-man roster to take his place in the rotation. Suárez pitched just 11 2/3 MLB innings for the Orioles last season with a 2.31 ERA. He has no minor league options remaining, so if the Orioles decide to move Suárez out of the rotation, they will need to designate him for assignment.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #24
Orioles placed RHP Zach Eflin on the 15-day injured list with right elbow discomfort.
The 31-year-old left last night’s game in the fourth inning. As of now, we have no further information on the extent of the injury, and the Orioles are awaiting imaging results. However, fantasy managers should expect a long absence, which is a bummer for a pitcher who seemed primed to have a bounce-back season. Albert Suarez was called up to take Eflin’s place in the rotation.
  • ATH 1st Baseman #16
Nick Kurtz is not in the starting lineup for the Athletics on Wednesday against the Braves.
It’s just a routine day off with a day game after a night game, but it will come with Chris Sale on the mound, which isn’t a terrible thing. Lawrence Butler will also get a day off, although his is a bit more platoon-based. Andy Ibanez will start at first base, and Austin Wynns will enter the lineup at catcher with Shea Langeliers moving to DH.
