Jett Williams (quad) will return to spring training action on Thursday.

Williams, who came over from the Mets in the Freddy Peralta trade, has been out since February 23rd, when he injured his quad running out a triple. He was never likely to break camp with the Brewers, but he could be an option at shortstop of third base by the middle of the season.

The Athletic’s Chandler Rome reports the Astros are interested in Lars Nootbar.

“Whether the Astros can meet St. Louis’ asking price is another matter. One source described the Cardinals’ ask as “astronomical,” which does not bode well for a club short on prospect capital,” Rome adds. Nootbar missed most of the first few months of the season and is hitting .241/.347/.366 over 170 plate appearances. Nootbar is under team control through the 2027 season.

Keller threw three innings against the Yankees on June 25 and hadn’t been used since. It’s an incredible story that he made it to the big leagues for the first time in his age-32 season after missing the 2024 and 2025 calendar years, but the Phillies weren’t exactly using him of late so the demotion makes sense.
