Rockies optioned RHP Seth Halvorsen to Triple-A Albuquerque

Halvorsen allowed 12 runs in five innings this spring and will start the season in the minors. There’s a chance he can work his way back into the closer’s role at some point this season.

Royals signed LHP Matt Moore to a minor league contract.

The 37-year-old southpaw didn’t pitch at all during the 2025 season but isn’t quite ready to hang up his cleats just yet. Now fully healthy, if he looks sharp in the minor leagues it shouldn’t take him long to earn an opportunity in the Royals’ bullpen where he could wind up being a major asset in the second half of the season.

Giants activated OF Jared Oliva from the 60-day injured list; designated him for assignment.

The 30-year-old outfielder had been shelved since mid-April after undergoing surgery to repair the hamate bone in his left wrist. He has now been removed from the Giants’ 40-man roster. There’s a decent chance that he could slide through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as extra outfield depth for the Giants at Triple-A Sacramento.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa will undergo an MRI exam on his sore left forearm on Saturday.

It’s an issue that has been nagging at the versatile 31-year-old for a couple of weeks now and got worse following the cross-country flight to Seattle on Friday, so the Red Sox will take a look and see what’s going on. He’s considered day-to-day for now.

Shane Bieber (elbow) will be activated from the injured list to start against the Blue Jays on Monday against the Astros.

Bieber has been brought along very cautiously after experiencing renewed inflammation in his elbow over the offseason and is finally ready to contribute to the Blue Jays. Despite his struggles during his minor league rehab assignment, Bieber has enough of a track record that he could wind up being an impact addition for fantasy purposes.

Michael Harris II (back) remains out of the Braves’ starting lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Brewers.

Braves’ skipper Walt Weiss noted that Harris is feeling much improved and could be available off the bench to pinch-hit on Saturday. It sounds like he should be ready to return to the starting lineup on Sunday. Mauricio Dubon will once again start in his place in center field and bat leadoff against Brewers’ left-hander Kyle Harrison.

Luis Garcia Jr. is not in the Nationals’ starting lineup for Saturday’s melee against the Rays in Tampa Bay.

Garcia had started in each of the team’s previous seven games, so he’ll get a breather in this one. Andres Chaparro will start in his place at first base and will bat third against Rays’ left-hander Ian Seymour on Saturday afternoon in Tampa Bay.

Jesús Sañchez is absent from the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Saturday afternoon’s tilt against the Cubs in Chicago.

It doesn’t sound like there’s any physical issue going on with Sañchez, so it looks to be just a routine day off. Myles Straw will start in his place in left field and will bat ninth against Cubs’ right-hander Colin Rea.

Blue Jays activated OF Daulton Varsho from the 10-day injured list.

Varsho had been shelved since June 7 due to inflammation in his left wrist. He returns to a .256/.331/.408 slash line with five homers, 17 RBI and five swipes through his first 236 plate appearances on the season. He’ll start in center field and bat sixth against Cubs’ right-hander Colin Rea on Saturday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

Blue Jays optioned INF Charles McAdoo to Triple-A Buffalo.

With Daulton Vasho returning from the injured list on Saturday, someone needed to get the boot from the Jays’ bench and McAdoo wound up being the odd man out this time around. The 24-year-old hit .160 (4-for-25) with a homer, three RBI and a 6/0 K/BB ratio in his limited time with the Jays. He’ll return to an everyday role at the Triple-A level until he’s needed again.

Blue Jays optioned LHP Brendon Little to Triple-A Buffalo.

Little’s stay with the big league club lasted just one day this time around as he gave up four runs on three hits and a pair of walks in his lone inning of work against the Cubs on Friday afternoon. Lazaro Estrada was activated from the 60-day injured list to take his spot in a Jays’ bullpen that has been heavily taxed in recent days.
