Boyle struck out four and walked none, throwing 52 of his 75 pitches for strikes. It’s just the second time in 23 starts as a major leaguer that Boyle has gone without a walk. As tough as he is to hit, Boyle would likely be a useful mixed-league SP with a league-average walk rate. That’s probably still too much to ask for at this point, and he might be bumped from the rotation when Pepiot returns from the IL. Still, he’s one to keep an eye on.

Beede returns to Chicago on a brand-new minor league pact after being cut loose at the end of spring training. The 32-year-old journeyman represents organizational relief depth at Triple-A Iowa. He hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since making 13 appearances for the Guardians back in 2024.

Yates could potentially be ready for a minor league rehab assignment later this week after hitting the shelf at the end of spring training with knee inflammation. The Angels have gone with Jordan Romano in the closer role to open the year, and he’s done a nice job so far. Yates would give them another proven high-leverage option in the late innings.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Cole completed another throwing session on Monday without any issues and will face hitters again later this week. The 35-year-old former fantasy ace is creeping closer towards kicking off a minor league rehab assignment and remains on track to rejoin New York’s rotation at some point in late May.

Schumaker added that they expect to receive the MRI results at some point Tuesday evening before they determine his next steps. It’s a notable development after deGrom managed to complete five innings against the Mariners on Monday, despite pitching through a minor knee issue that cropped up while warming up in the bullpen before the game. It sounds like the Rangers are merely proceeding with an abundance of caution in advance of deGrom’s next start on Sunday against the Dodgers. Trout returns to center field and will bat second on Tuesday night following a one-game absence after being hit by a pitch during Sunday’s showdown against the division-rival Mariners. X-rays came back negative for any fractures and he’s ready to roll after getting some extra rest. The 34-year-old future Hall of Famer is hitting .212 (7-for-33) with two homers and two steals through 10 games this season.

Schmitt isn’t ready to return to the field just yet, but it’s undoubtedly a positive sign that he’s able to get back in the lineup at DH following a four-game absence due to back tightness. It’ll be Rafael Devers handling the cold corner for the third consecutive game. The other notable development here is that Devers is hitting lower than fourth in a lineup for the first time since 2021 after an 8-for-42 start to the year.

Bader and Lee are the notable regulars taking a seat with Jared Oliva getting a chance in center field and Jerar Encarnacion heading out to right field in this one.

Betts remains without a definitive timetable to return from a right oblique strain that he suffered while running the bases over the weekend, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts estimated it would be somewhere in the 4-6 week range. The fact that he’s back participating in baseball activities in a limited fashion is an encouraging sign, but fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until at least early-to-mid May in a best-case scenario.

Bryan Baker has seemingly emerged as Tampa Bay’s preferred ninth-inning option but it would make sense for Uceta to work his way into the mix once he’s back. The 28-year-old high-leverage reliever has been on the shelf since the end of spring training working his way back from a shoulder impingement that delayed his ramp-up process during camp. He’ll require a handful of rehab outings before he’s ready to make his season debut.
