The Athletics have decided to jettison Morales to the minors for some additional seasoning after being torched for 10 runs on 13 hits with an abysmal 5/8 K/BB ratio across 7 1/3 innings over two starts to open the season. The hard-throwing 23-year-old pitching prospect will get an opportunity to reset back at the Triple-A level. It’ll presumably be J.T. Ginn taking his spot in the rotation when it comes up on Friday against the Mets.

Harris has bounced around between a couple different organizations, hitting .233 (10-for-43) with four steals in 17 games between the White Sox and Astros earlier this season. The 27-year-old will occupy a bench role with the Padres after tearing the cover off the ball at Triple-A El Paso for the last month.

The Padres are going to give outfielder Dustin Harris a look in a bench role with Song heading back to the minors. He’s played sparingly in his first taste of the majors, hitting just .202/.305/.263 with one homer and 12 steals in 134 plate appearances over 62 games in his Padres debut.

Giolito is presumably done for the season after hitting the injured list with elbow inflammation back in late June. The procedural move frees up a spot on San Diego’s 40-man roster for outfielder Dustin Harris.

There was plenty of reason to suspect that Woo would wind up requiring a trip to the injured list after experiencing shoulder soreness during his previous outing against the Astros back on August 16. The 26-year-old was able to complete a bullpen session over the weekend without any issues and should be ready to take the ball later this week. Obviously, fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status in the coming weeks.

It felt like an inevitable outcome when Emerson hit the injured list with left wrist tendon inflammation earlier this month. The 21-year-old former top prospect is expected to be ready for the outset of spring training. He wraps up a mostly underwhelming rookie campaign hitting .190/.246/.335 with eight homers, 23 RBI and three steals in 241 plate appearances over 69 games. He’ll take over as Seattle’s shortstop next season with J.P. Crawford slated to hit free agency at the end of the current season.

De Vries has been shut down from throwing for the next month and figures to miss the remainder of the minor league season. The 19-year-old prodigy has hit a robust .290/.378/.458 with 13 homers and 34 steals for Double-A Midland as one of the youngest hitters in the Texas League. He’s going to be an impactful fantasy contributor once he reaches the majors in the not-so-distant future.

Langeliers underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee last month, which was believed to be a season-ending procedure. It sounds like there’s a small chance that Langeliers could make it back before the end of the year, but that would likely only be for a handful of games in late September, if at all. The positive news for fantasy managers is that he should have a normal offseason and be ready for the start of spring training.

Mesa is eligible to be activated from the injured list this weekend. The 24-year-old hit the injured list with a left hamstring strain last week. He should be ready to return after getting a couple tune-up games under his belt this week. He’s homered five times in 23 games since last month’s All-Star break.

Beck heads back to the minors to make room for New York to bring up a fresh arm prior to Tuesday’s series opener against the Astros. The 27-year-old rookie didn’t end up making an appearance after being called up over the weekend.

Thorpe will be making his seventh minor league rehab start since late July. The 25-year-old former pitching prospect threw 83 pitches in his previous rehab outing for Triple-A Charlotte last week. He’s been working his way back from last year’s Tommy John surgery and should factor into Chicago’s pitching equation in the final month of the season.
