Pirates optioned RHP Wilber Dotel to Triple-A Indianapolis.

This certainly qualifies as a surprise after Dotel spun four perfect innings during a bulk relief appearance against the Cardinals on Monday. The 23-year-old rookie has vastly outperformed expectations with a microscopic 1.35 ERA and 4/3 K/BB ratio across 6 2/3 innings over three appearances this season. He’ll presumably be back at some point in a couple weeks when the Pirates need some long relief depth.

Giants selected the contract of RHP Braxton Roxby from Sacramento

With Carson Whisenhunt being moved to the 60-day injured list, it will be Braxton Roby who comes up to take his place. Roby was acquired from the Reds in January for Taylor Rogers. The 27-year-old has pitched to a 4.11 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 53/26 K/BB ratio in 57 innings at Triple-A, all out of the bullpen.
