Mariners activated INF/OF Brendan Donovan from the 10-day injured list.

Donovan had been out since Apr. 18 with a groin strain. His return should send Leo Rivas to the bench and J.P. Crawford back down to the bottom third of Seattle’s lineup.

Max Clark is out of the Tigers lineup Saturday for the first time since being called up.

Clark had started 13 straight games, including the last three against southpaws. The Tigers, though, are sitting him versus Anthony Kay today, which gives Corey Julks a start in the outfield.

Kevin McGonigle is batting cleanup Saturday for the first time in his career.

It’s the Tigers’ fourth straight game against a left-hander today. McGonigle, still almost assuredly the Tigers’ leadoff man against right-handers, had hit third the previous three games, He’s batting .241/.322/.338 versus lefties, compared to .304/.416/.461 against righties.

Blue Jays optioned RHP Chase Lee to Triple-A Buffalo.

Lee, 28, is sent down to make room for Rickey Tiedemann. The right-hander will likely get another shot with Toronto before the season concludes with rosters expanding in a few weeks.

Blue Jays recalled LHP Ricky Tiedemann from Triple-A Buffalo.

Tiedemann will have a chance to make his MLB debut over the weekend. The 23-year-old was once among the very best pitching prospects in baseball, but injuries and less than spectacular results when healthy have seen his stock drop somewhat considerably. It’s likely he’ll just be a middle-inning option in this current stint with Toronto.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (head) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game against the Yankees.

Guerrero Jr. is currently gong through the concussion protocol, and it’s worth noting that Daz Cameron reportedly has a locker. For now, the 27-year-old is just out of Saturday’s lineup, but fantasy managers should be prepared for a potential stint on the seven-day IL. In the meantime, Charles McAdoo will hit ninth and handle first base duties.

Wandy Peralta will be the starting pitcher for the Padres on Saturday against the Guardians.

Peralta will get the start, but this will be a bullpen game for the Padres. The 35-year-old will go an inning or two before giving way to another pen arm.

White Sox optioned C Edgar Quero to Triple-A Charlotte.

Quero is down after the White Sox officially added Jake Rogers to the active roster. The 23-year-old backstop has not lived up to his prospect hype thus far, and it may take a change in organizations for him to get enough opportunity for him to do so.

Cardinals recalled OF Joshua Báez from Triple-A Memphis.

Báez will be making his MLB debut against the Cubs after hitting 34 homers and slashing .256/.328/.573 in Triple-A. He’ll hit fifth and play left field. The 23-year-old has immense power, but he does have the potential for contact issues as seen in 136 strikeouts over 103 games. That being said, he also has stolen 21 bases — after stealing 54 in 2025 — so there’s tremendous reward that comes with the inherited risks in Báez’s profile.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters that Simeon Woods Richardson will work “in some capacity” during Saturday’s game against the Yankees.

Braydon Fisher is going to get the start against the Yankees on Saturday, but he won’t be able to go more than a turn through the lineup at most. Woods Richardson seems likely to be the bulk hurler for that game, but even with a chance to pick up multiple innings and potentially a win, he offers more risk than reward at this point.

Kyle Freeland limited the Giants to one run over eight innings in the Rockies’ 5-2 victory Friday.

Freeland struck out only two and gave up 11 hard-hit balls, but the only damage against him came on Bryce Eldridge’s homer in the fourth. Freeland has allowed three earned runs in his three starts this month, lowering his ERA from 7.34 to 6.27. He’ll make his next start at home against the Dodgers. It’ll be his first time facing them in Coors this year after giving up 14 earned runs over nine innings in two starts in L.A.
