He figures to vie with Brooks Raley for the team’s main lefty late-game role. Minter had a 1.64 ERA before getting hurt in 2025 and should at least have a chance at reclaiming the gig ahead of Raley. Assuming the Mets bother winning some games here or there, he’ll have some value in leagues with holds.

The 31-year-old Conley, a career minor leaguer, was an emergency callup for the Mets on Sunday in case they started trading pitchers and needed the spare arm. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to pitch before losing his spot.

It’s the first time he’s played the outfield since Apr. 16, 2022. Harper is expected to be eased into right field, so expect him to continue to make some starts at first for now.

The Phillies are facing a lefty opener tonight, but the lineup looks more like it would against a righty, with Brandon Marsh, Bryson Stott and Justin Crawford all included. Arraez is more used to hitting first or second than cleanup, but no one is better equipped to single in a guy from second base. The Phillies are keeping Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner at the top for now.

He’s batting sixth against the Orioles. The decision to designate Jorge Soler for assignment suggests that the Angels are looking at Ballesteros more as a DH than as a catcher, but we’ll see. GM John Mozeliak said Monday that he’d probably catch one game in the series against Baltimore. It sure would be nice to see him at least get the 12 catching appearances he’d need to reach 20 and lock up eligibility for next year.

Joyce, who was last seen in the majors 18 months ago, is finally back from shoulder surgery after posting a 5.06 ERA and a 12/8 K/BB in 10 2/3 innings during a rehab stint. He averaged 101.3 mph with his fastball during his Triple-A appearances, so that’s not going to be an issue. Command might be. He’s probably the favorite to lead the Angels in saves the rest of the way, but it might be a bumpy ride, especially for these next few weeks.

The Angels sent Johnson down Saturday knowing that they could quickly recall him after trading a pitcher or two and that’s what they did. He’s still a part of the rotation, and he’ll likely face the Orioles on Thursday.

Frazier is back after missing nearly two months with elbow inflammation. Ideally, he won’t play as much this time around after hitting .210/.297/.333 in his first 40 games, but he can serve as a fallback option at second base and in left field.

The 31-year-old Anderson spent much of April with the Angels, giving up 11 earned runs in 16 2/3 innings out of the pen. He’ll again be asked to soak up innings in middle relief.

Weiman, an eighth-round pick of the Pirates in 2017, will be making his major league debut after nine minor league seasons. He has a 1.93 ERA and a 25/4 K/BB in 18 2/3 innings for Double-A Rocket City.

This is surprising, especially following Dustin May’s departure. Mathews did solid work against the Jays in his major league debut Saturday (2 ER in 5+ innings), and it seemed like he was going to get an extended look. Something obviously has changed since, or the Cardinals presumably would have sent him down on Sunday.
