Quinn Priester (shoulder) allowed three runs and recorded only two outs on Wednesday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Nashville.

It was more of the same for Priester as he averaged just 91.8 mph on his sinker and threw just 18 of 38 pitches for strikes while failing to complete the first inning. The 25-year-old has been working his way back from thoracic outlet syndrome and the results have been utterly abysmal through a handful of rehab outings. There’s zero reason for the Brewers to expedite his return to the majors given how he’s looked so far.

Astros recalled RHP Ronel Blanco from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Blanco draws the starting assignment for Tuesday’s game against the White Sox. The 33-year-old has struggled to an inflated 7.71 ERA across 23 1/3 innings in the majors this season. He’s not a recommended fantasy option in this spot.

Astros recalled OF Jake Meyers from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Meyers is back with Houston in a bench role as one of their September call-ups. The 30-year-old is unlikely to play very much with Dalton Varsho, Cam Smith, Taylor Trammell and Nelson Velázquez ahead of him on the depth chart.

Yankees re-signed RHP Justin Topa to a minor league contract.

Topa will stick around with the Yankees as emergency relief depth after making a pair of appearances in August.

J.T. Ginn will have his next start pushed back to Thursday against the Mariners.

It looks like the Athletics are going to give Ginn some extra rest by pushing him back to Thursday’s series opener against the Mariners instead of having him take the ball against the Rangers on Tuesday. It’ll be Brady Basso kicking off a bullpen game for the Athletics instead.

Dodgers activated C Will Smith from the 60-day injured list.

Smith is finally back from his neck injury after going 4-for-14 with two doubles and a homer in five minor league games. The Dodgers will probably use him fairly carefully this month, but it should be safe to get him back into fantasy lineups.

Dodgers activated C Dalton Rushing from the 10-day injured list.

Rushing’s sudden return after a month-long absence due to a UCL tear is quite a surprise. He didn’t play in any rehab games, and since his elbow remains an issue, it’s unclear if he’ll be doing any catching this month. One imagines he’ll primary be a left-handed pinch-hitter for now.

Dodgers activated LHP Justin Wrobleski from the 15-day injured list.

Wrobleski, an All-Star starter this year, is expected to spend the rest of the season in the pen after missing the last two weeks with forearm inflammation. He allowed one run in 1 1/3 innings in his only rehab appearance for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Dodgers recalled INF Alex Freeland from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

It looks like Tommy Edman is going to see more time in center field with Alek Thomas being demoted, so Freeland could play a fair amount of second base. He’s hit .231/.309/.313 in 223 plate appearances for the Dodgers this season. He wasn’t great in Triple-A of late, either, batting .248/.350/.347 for Oklahoma City in August.

Dodgers optioned OF Alek Thomas to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Thomas had been the Dodgers’ center fielder against righties since Andy Pages went down, but it seems the team will go with Tommy Edman and Kiké Hernádez out there now. Thomas went 4-for-19 with three RBI in 10 days with the club.

Dodgers designated C Ben Rortvedt for assignment.

Rortvedt, who was picked up from the Mets at the trade deadline, went 5-for-27 while helping to fill in for Will Smith and Dalton Rushing last month.
