Morgan had a solid first month of the MLB season, but he has struggled since being recalled from the minors for a second time. He now has a 5.51 ERA in 16 1/3 innings for the Royals this season. He’ll take some time in the minors to try to right the ship.

De La Cruz has started every game in which he’s been on the Reds’ roster this year — and he likes it that way — but a break might be warranted. He’s gone hitless in four straight games, and he’s hitting .127 in 15 games this month.

Rodón returns to New York’s rotation for the first time since hitting the injured list with elbow inflammation back on July 3. The 33-year-old veteran southpaw recorded seven punchouts over 4 1/3 shutout frames for Double-A Somerset in his final rehab tune-up last week. He shouldn’t have any significant workload restrictions in his return from the injured list and should be rostered in all fantasy formats. His return bumps Will Warren back an additional day and figures to push hard-throwing southpaw Ryan Weathers into a relief role.

Stearns made it clear that the club will begin the search for a new manager at the conclusion of the regular season. Green, who previously managed the Padres from 2016-2019, took over as New York’s temporary skipper after Carlos Mendoza was fired in late June. He joined the Mets in a front office role prior to the 2024 campaign and will likely fill a similar role in their player development engine moving forward.

Theres’ optimism Griffin will be ready to return from the injured list in early September, when he’s first eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list. The 20-year-old prodigy seemed to be hitting his stride before suffering a torn sagittal band in his left ring finger that sent him to the injured list back in early July. An early-September return would be in line with the club’s initial 8-10 week return timetable. He’s obviously talented enough that he’ll make a significant fantasy impact down the home stretch as Pittsburgh’s top-of-the-order igniter.

Garcia returns to Kansas City’s infield mix after missing nearly two months with a muscle strain in his left hand. It’s been a bit of a lost season in the wake of last year’s 16-homer, 23-steal breakout campaign as he’s hit just 261/.320/.373 with three homers, 30 RBI and five steals in 294 plate appearances so far. He’s an impact fantasy contributor when he’s healthy, which gives Garcia a shot at fantasy relevance over the final six weeks of the year.
