It doesn’t sound like anything overly concerning, so the 34-year-old slugger should be considered day-to-day. Ke’Bryan Hayes will man the hot corner and bat ninth for the Reds while Nathaniel Lowe functions as the designated hitter against Framber Valdez and the Tigers on Friday evening in Cincinnati.

Michael Harris II (quad) was scratched from the Braves’ starting lineup for Friday night’s matchup against the Phillies.

The Braves had been hopeful that Harris could return on Friday after making an early exit on Thursday due to tightness in his left quad, but after testing it out pregame they opted to err on the side of caution. Braves’ manager Walt Weiss told reporters that it’s a day-to-day type of situation and they don’t anticipate the 25-year-old outfielder to require a stint on the injured list.

Brewers recalled 1B/OF Tyler Black from Triple-A Nashville.

Black had been hitting .282/.378/.410 in 45 plate appearances with the Sounds, hitting one homer and stealing two bases. He’s been an interesting prospect for a bit. We’d wait-and-see what the role looks like in the bigs before we pounced — at least outside of deeper leagues — but it’s certainly possible Black carries some fantasy value while Christian Yelich is sidelined.
Maikel Garcia

KC 3rd Baseman #11

Maikel Garcia (elbow) isn’t in Kansas City’s starting lineup against the Angels on Friday.

Garcia told reporters after Thursday’s game that he was feeling better and expected to play Friday, but that did not come to pass. We’ll keep our ears to the ground for any new Garcia news, but we’re regarding him as day-to-day for the moment. Nick Loftin is starting and leading off for the Royals against LHP Yusei Kikuchi.

Michael Harris Jr. is batting fifth for the Braves in Friday’s showdown with the Phillies.

Harris left Thursday’s game with a quad injury, but it doesn’t appear like it’s a serious issue at the moment. He’s good to go in leagues with day-to-day transactions, and with how Harris has played this year, fantasy managers relying on him have to be breathing a sigh of relief that this wasn’t anything more serious.

Blue Jays GM Ross Adkins said the team will move to a “closer by committee” in the short-term.

Jeff Hoffman will attempt to iron out his issues in lower-leverage appearances. The Jays won’t say as such, but this probably makes Louis Varland the favorite for saves. Pitching well for the Jays at the moment are Varland (0.00 ERA in 13 innings pitched), Tyler Rogers (0.73 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched) and Braydon Fisher (2.08 ERA in 13 innings pitched) — saves will likely come out of that trio. But Varland is the easy pickup in fantasy leagues where he’s available.
Roman Anthony

Roman Anthony (back) is not in Boston’s starting lineup Friday against the Orioles.

It’ll again be Masataka Yoshida batting third and DHing as Anthony continues to deal with a sore back. This is Anthony’s third straight day sitting with the injury. Red Sox beat reporters generally seem optimistic he’ll be back soon.
Tyler O'Neill

BAL Right Fielder #9

Orioles activated OF Tyler O’Neill off the 7-day concussion injured list.

He’ll be eligible to return tonight against the Red Sox. O’Neill wound up missing about two weeks after suffering his concussion on April 9. Baltimore hasn’t posted a lineup yet but it would not be surprising if O’Neill found his way into it.
George Springer

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said George Springer (toe) will return in “a couple of days, maybe just even a day or two.”

Schneider alluded to the idea that Springer is going to be playing through the toe injury when he does return, saying “it’s going to be a little tricky for him for a couple of weeks.” So don’t expect a lot in the stolen bases category. But this augurs well for a return, and based on the timeline, he’ll probably be back by the start of next week.
Casey Legumina

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports the Rays are acquiring RHP Casey Legumina from the Mariners.

Legumina was designated for assignment on Tuesday and the Mariners were apparently able to find a trade partner. Tampa Bay Times’ Marc Topkin reports the Mariners are reacquiring RHP Ty Cummings from the Mariners. Legumina posted a 5.62 ERA in 48 outings for the Mariners last year and was at 4.63 in eight outings this year, but he has struck out 82 batters in 83.1 career MLB innings.
