Cardinals No. 80 overall pick Jamell Fleming is in the mix to start at cornerback opposite of Patrick Peterson.

His competition will be William Gay, A.J. Jefferson, and Greg Toler. Fleming is also expected to see some time at safety. Although neither is overly productive, it’s more likely that one of Jefferson or Gay lands the starting job. Arizona, like most teams, will run a ton of nickel to keep Fleming active on game days. His defensive usage will be determined in training camp.

Mason Taylor (thumb) did not practice on Thursday.

Taylor was sidelined all of last week and, so far, all of this week with the thumb injury. He’d need to mount a major comeback on Friday to get on to the questionable line.
Pollard 'only viable option' in Titans' offense
Patrick Daugherty and Denny Carter analyze Tony Pollard's production in the Tennessee Titans' offense and believe he's the "only viable option," for fantasy football on the Titans' offense.

Adonai Mitchell (finger) did not practice Thursday.

It’s trending in the wrong direction for Mitchell’s odds of playing in Week 4. We imagine he’ll get in at least a limited session Friday to see how natural it is for him to catch the football with his injured finger, but he looks headed for the questionable line — at best — against the Bears.

Breece Hall (quad) did not practice Thursday.

A “Week-to-week” designation leaves us struggling to see any way that Hall plays this week. Braelon Allen should be a reasonable RB2 in Hall’s absence. Hall will likely be questionable at best for Week 5.

Caleb Williams (hamstring) did not practice Thursday.

He appears to have no chance of being cleared for Week 4. Week 5 remains a bit murky; it would be early per his timetable, but we think he might at least have a chance of suiting up then.

D’Andre Swift (knee) did not practice on Thursday.

Swift was added to the injury report on Thursday in a stunning mid-week downgrade straight to DNP. The 27-year-old running back has been listed with the knee ailment earlier in the year; it’s possible this is just a rest day. If he were sidelined, Kyle Monangai would get a huge boost and be a plausible RB2 against the Jets. This will be one we’ll have eyes on Friday.

Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) was limited in Thursday’s practice.

That’s two limited practices in a row for Okonkwo, who has missed the last two weeks with the hamstring injury. It would be nice to see a full practice, but he’s at least trending in the right direction to hit the questionable line on Friday.

Jayden Daniels (elbow) was limited in Thursday’s practice.

Most of the national reporters have offered real hesitation on the idea that Daniels will play this week, but that does make two practices in a row. We assume we’ll get a better idea on his long-term status late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, before they play in London. Daniels-reliant managers, as always, should have backup plans settled ahead of a breakfast kickoff.

Jackson Powers-Johnson (groin) did not practice on Wednesday.

The Raiders’ stud right guard has now missed two practices in a row, putting him on the wrong side of questionable. The Raiders face a Chiefs defensive line led by DT Chris Jones this week. Playing without Powers-Johnson could be consequential.

NFL on Prime’s James Palmer reports that the Browns “love” Denzel Boston, and he is viewed as a “possible future star.”

What to do with this info? Stash Boston at the very least. Per Palmer, the Browns “felt he was a true pro from the day he walked into the building.” In the same pre-Thursday Night Football news dump, Palmer said that Harold Fannin is the team’s No. 3 pass catcher, despite Fannin leading the team in targets. This could indicate that the Browns plan to ramp up Boston’s offensive involvement as the season progresses.

Justin Jefferson (ankle) was not spotted at the open portion of practice on Thursday.

The talk around Jefferson this week has been mostly optimistic, but two missed practices in a row are two missed practices in a row. Friday’s status will be hugely important for his odds of getting on the questionable line. If there’s any real doubt about how he’ll play, we’d imagine the Vikings would sit him against the lowly Dolphins.
