  • GB Quarterback #2
Packers HC Matt LaFleur told reporters Monday that Malik Willis will be the starting quarterback until Jordan Love (knee) is cleared.
Love is expected to miss about three weeks according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, and at least for Week 2 against the Colts it will be Willis under center and not Sean Clifford. Green Bay made the trade for Willis just before the start of the year, and the speedy 25-year-old will have one of the better group of weapons to throw the football to. Willis also hasn’t shown in the preseason and his limited action in actual games that he may not be the guy to get those players the football. The ability to run makes Willis interesting on top of those receiving corps, but there’s a ton of volatility in using Willis as a fantasy fill-in.
  • DEN Running Back #23
Audric Estime (ankle) is practicing in full for Week 6 against the Chargers.
It means Estime will be coming off injured reserve. What it does not necessarily mean is that he will be active Sunday, though we would expect so. The next question then becomes if he can muscle in on Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin’s workloads after Tyler Baide had begun to do before injuring his back. Williams and McLaughlin’s recent play and efficiency have improved, perhaps making it more difficult for fifth-round rookie Estime to get on the field. He’s only worth a flier in the most desperate of deeper-league RB situations.
  • LAC Quarterback #10
Justin Herbert (ankle) was limited in Thursday’s practice.
This is the same ankle Herbert played through in Week 4. With the Chargers coming off a Week 5 bye, Herbert has had plenty of time to rest his ankle and should be good to go, barring any setbacks. He’ll need to be at the top of his game against a Broncos defense that has been among the league’s best this season. Herbert shouldn’t be viewed as anything more than a QB2 in fantasy this week.
  • LV Wide Receiver #16
Jakobi Meyers (ankle) remained sidelined for Thursday’s practice.
Meyers is the kind of veteran who could get back on track to play with even a “limited” Friday session, but he is now firmly on the wrong side of questionable as the Raiders prepare to change quarterbacks from Gardner Minshew to Aidan O’Connell. It’s a nightmare scenario for O’Connell, who is already without Davante Adams. Meyers joining Adams on the shelf would make Tre Tucker a desperation WR3. For his part, Meyers will crack the top 36 if he manages to suit up.
  • LAC Running Back #4
Gus Edwards (ankle) did not practice on Thursday.
Two straight DNPs to open the week for Edwards puts him on track to miss Week 6’s game against the Broncos. He’ll have one more day to try and get on the field, but if he’s unable to go, we could see rookie Kimani Vidal activated for the first time this season.
  • LV Running Back #3
Zamir White (groin) remained sidelined for Thursday’s practice.
White seems all but certain to miss his second consecutive contest, leaving behind the deeply uninspiring duo of Alexander Mattison and Ameer Abdullah as the Raiders switch quarterback horses from Gardner Minshew to Aidan O’Connell. Everything about this setup is screaming “fiasco week” against the Steelers’ tough defense, rendering Mattison a low-upside FLEX.
  • JAX Running Back #1
Travis Etienne (shoulder) was limited in Thursday’s practice.
Etienne was held out for part of last week’s game due to his shoulder injury and was nursing the same injury earlier this season. Clearly working through something, head coach Doug Pederson said on Thursday that Etienne would remain the team’s lead back despite the recent breakout performance from Tank Bigsby, but we’d expect Bigsby to earn more touches in the very near future.
  • JAX Wide Receiver #0
Gabe Davis (knee) was limited in Thursday’s practice.
Davis has been limited in each of the Jaguars’ first two practices to open the week. Jacksonville’s big free agent signing from this offseason has caught 12 passes for 159 scoreless yards on 25 targets this season, leaving his fantasy managers sorely disappointed thus far. If he plays in Week 6 against the Bears, he won’t be anything more than a desperation dart throw.
  • JAX Tight End #17
Evan Engram (hamstring) remained “limited” for Thursday’s practice.
Coach Doug Pederson has already said there’s a “pretty good” chance Engram finally returns for Week 6, though a “full” practice on Friday would guarantee it. We are unlikely to get that, with “limited/questionable” the probable outcome of Friday’s report. The signs are nevertheless good enough that fantasy managers can consider Engram definitively on the right side of questionable. Looking to re-prove his health in a mostly struggling offense, Engram will be a lower-end TE1 for a tough Bears matchup.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #2
Robert Woods (foot) did not practice on Thursday.
Woods has yet to practice this week and is trending toward missing the Texans’ Week 6 game against the Patriots. The veteran receiver has caught three passes for 28 yards this season and wouldn’t have any fantasy upside if active.
  • GB Tight End #85
Tucker Kraft (groin) was limited in Thursday’s practice.
This would be a tough one for fantasy managers, as Kraft has totaled 10 receptions for 141 yards and three touchdowns over the last two weeks. The second-year tight end is second on his team in receptions (16) and receiving yards (218), while fellow tight end Luke Musgrave has a paltry 5-22-0 line on seven targets. With Musgrave a potential IR candidate thanks to an injury, tight end Ben Sims could draw the start if Kraft is unable to go.
