49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (calf) is questionable to play in Week 1 against the Seahawks.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero implicitly confirms the concern that McCaffrey did indeed suffer a new injury, saying the 49ers’ “opener against Seattle is on Sunday, just three days after the injury” occurred, removing the possibility that this was a precautionary measure due to some sort of muscle irritation. Pelissero previously reported that “alarm bells” are not going off within the 49ers’ facility, but the new injury-related phrasing is hardly comforting. For now, fantasy managers must prepare to be without McCaffrey, while hoping for the best. No. 2 RB Brian Robinson will be a top-18 option if McCaffrey is sidelined for Week 1. No. 3 RB Isaac Guerendo is worth adding in 12-team leagues, where available.

Adonai Mitchell caught 7-of-9 targets for 142 yards and a touchdown in the Jets’ Week 8 loss to the Raiders.

    Hubbard remains a locked-in top-12 fantasy RB
Chuba Hubbard rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries and added 38 yards on seven receptions against the Packers, reinforcing his status as a locked-in top-12 fantasy running back going forward.

CeeDee Lamb caught 7-of-11 targets for 58 yards in Dallas’ Week 8 loss to the Cardinals.

Lamb’s most memorable play from this game was evading three tacklers on a screen to finally find a first down. He had two of Dallas’ six red zone targets but turned them into just one catch for four yards. Arizona’s aggressive defense simply clouded Lamb and dared the other receivers to win. He’ll remain on the WR1 line next week against the hapless Colts.

Tyler Goodson rushed seven times for 14 yards in Dallas’ Week 8 loss to Arizona, adding two catches for 19 yards on his only two targets.

He found 20-of-74 running back snaps against the Cardinals; not bad work but nothing that is making you consider a waiver claim either. Goodson should be held in deeper leagues as a contingency stash.

Braelon Allen rushed 21 times for 147 yards and a touchdown in the Jets’ Week 8 loss to the Raiders.

Allen added two receptions for six yards. With Breece Hall a surprising weekend ruleout with an aggravation of his long-running quad injury, Allen got another start and once again made the most of it. Allen’s career-high 147 yards on the ground included a 24-yard rush and 21-yard touchdown where he got the edge and was then not touched en route to the house. In between, he got shaken up on a big hit but appeared no worse for the wear. Although Hall is supposedly in play for Week 9, he was never even supposed to be in doubt for Week 8. For now we will consider Hall on the wrong side of questionable to face the Chiefs’ strong defense on the road. Even if Hall goes, Allen will maintain FLEX appeal. If Hall sits, Allen will be a must-start RB2.

Chase Brown rushed 12 times for 55 yards and a fumble in the Bengals’ Week 8 win over the Titans, adding 8 receptions for 46 yards.

Brown saw most of his fantasy production come from the passing game, seeing nine targets in a pass-heavy game script. He fumbled on a handoff from Joe Burrow and also had a receiving touchdown called back for holding in the first half. Despite the dampened fantasy production, Brown saw most of the backfield opportunities for the Bengals, out-touching Samaje Perine 20-to-5. Brown’s production has been underwhelming the first half of the season but fantasy managers should hold tight given his large share of opportunities in pass-heavy game scripts. Brown’s production should regress to see more touchdowns the second half of the season. He is in the RB2 ranks for Week 9 against the Falcons.

Javonte Williams rushed 24 times for 56 yards in Dallas’ Week 8 loss to the Cardinals.

Woof. The Cardinals simply overwhelmed the line of scrimmage with run blitzes and dared the Cowboys to do something about it; they often didn’t. Williams also fumbled away a goal-line tote only for it to wind up as a Cowboys touchdown by landing in the hands of journeyman tight end James Mitchell. Things should be easier next week against the Colts, where Williams will remain a reasonable RB1/high-end RB2 tweener.

Cade Otton was not targeted in the Bucs’ Week 8 win over the Falcons.

Otton has one catch over his past three appearances and hasn’t hit 40 yards since Week 3. The Bucs, who only attempted three passes today, will increase the pass volume in Week 9, but that alone won’t be enough to get Otton back into fantasy lineups. He is not even in the TE2 mix for Week 9 against the Bears.

Jordan Addison caught 3-of-8 targets for 66 yards in the Vikings’ Week 8 loss to the Lions.

Kyler Murray targeted Addison deep a few times in this one and connected with Addison on a 51-yard deep shot over double coverage in the injury-riddled Lions secondary. It was good to see signs of life from Addison, who entered Week 8 averaging fewer expected fantasy points per game than Cooper Kupp and Kendrick Bourne. The team’s primary downfield threat, Addison’s role in the run-heavy Minnesota offense makes him a boom-bust weekly play. That won’t change in a good matchup in Week 9 against the Bills.

Dak Prescott completed 19-of-29 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown in Dallas’ 33-30, Week 8 loss to the Cardinals, adding seven carries for 20 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

If you’re wondering, it was Prescott’s first rushing touchdown since Week 12 of the 2025 season against the Eagles, and his first game with seven carries since Week 5 of the 2025 season. The gist of it is: The Cardinals big blitzed a lot and vacated several underneath zones to allow Prescott to run. Dallas often tried to solve things pre-snap, and they often did — but not often enough to win. Dallas was either throwing haymakers or quickly finding themselves going three-and-out, as they did in overtime. Prescott will get to rebound quickly in Week 9 against a Colts outfit that barely qualifies as a serious football team amid what has the look of a fire sale.
