Raiders coach Pete Carroll said it “might be best for the long haul” to keep Brock Bowers (knee) out for Week 7.

The Raiders have a Week 8 bye and this would give Bowers about a month of consecutive rest and rehab to see if he can get his knee injury into a spot where he can be 2024 Brock Bowers again. Carroll noted that he was “optimistic” — when isn’t he? — about Bowers returning but this felt like a telling comment with the bye week approaching. We wouldn’t be surprised if Bowers missed Week 7 and fantasy managers should probably walk into this week expecting that scenario to come to pass.

Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet (knee) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.

Charbonnet is starting to ramp up to a return from his torn ACL last season. The Seahawks opened up his practice window and he was limited on Wednesday. He is already ruled out for Week 5, but a Week 6 return is not out of the picture just yet.
Texans open practice window for Dell to return
Kyle Dvorchak expects a "slow ramp up" for Tank Dell after the Houston Texans opened the practice window for the WR to return to IR, and though his fantasy relevance may be limited, it could elevate his teammates.

49ers EDGE Nick Bosa (knee/calf) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

Bosa has yet to return to practice since injuring his calf two weeks ago in practice. He is listed with both knee and calf injuries and is seemingly not close to returning to in-game action. Bosa will need to practice before we can consider him ready to go for Week 5 or beyond.

Texans EDGE Will Anderson (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

Anderson popped up on the injury report with an ankle issue to open the week. As one of the league’s elite pass-rushers, the 25-year-old is a key cog to the Texans defense. He did not practice Wednesday, putting his Week 5 status in jeopardy. Anderson still has chances to practice later this week and play against the Titans, but any time missed puts the 0-4 Texans in an even deeper hole.

Eagles WR Devonta Smith (hamstring) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

Smith still has not returned to practice since last week, continuing to deal with a hamstring injury. Given his lack of practice reps ahead of travelling to London for Week 5, Smith is on the wrong side of questionable for this week’s matchup against the Jaguars. Also not practicing was WR Hollywood Brown (ankle). The Eagles will play Week 5 with a severely banged-up skill position group.

Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez (shoulder) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

Gonzalez has been sidelined with a shoulder injury since last week, missing the Patriots’ Week 4 win over the Bills. Also not practicing were Carlton Davis (neck) and Karon Prunty (hamstring). We’ll see if any of these corners can practice enough to play for Week 5, but Raiders WR Tre Tucker is headed for a good matchup against a banged up Patriots secondary this week.

Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson (knee) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.

This one is a surprise considering head coach Mike Vrabel said earlier Wednesday that Stevenson would not practice. Instead, the 28-year-old is listed as a limited participant on Wednesday’s official practice report. Stevenson seemingly tweaked his knee towards the end of Week 4 but he has a chance to play in Week 5 against the Raiders.

Raiders TE Brock Bowers (knee) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.

Bowers starts out the week limited, though he has played through his knee injury while getting limited practices the past couple weeks. Barring setbacks, Bowers should be cleared off the injury report Friday and will be a TE1 for Week 5 once again.

Raiders WR Jalen Nailor (concussion) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

Nailor suffered a concussion against the Chiefs in Week 4 and starts out the week not practicing. This indicates he is on the wrong side of questionable for Week 5 against the Patriots. Fellow WR Cody White (ankle) was limited as well, though Dont’e Thornton (hamstring) returned to practice, giving the Raiders some reinforcement with Nailor still in concussion protocol.

Raiders WR Dont’e Thornton (hamstring) returned to practice and feels “ready to play.”

Thornton has been on injured reserve since late August, practicing in full for the first time on Wednesday. He told Raiders media that he is “overly confident” in his hamstring and is “ready to play.” With Jack Bech on injured reserve, there is room for the 23-year-old speedster to earn targets if he plays in Week 5.

Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.

Okonwko returned to the lineup last week after missing a handful of games with the hamstring injury. His limited designation today is likely just maintenance. With Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs banged up, he should see more work in Week 5. Okonkwo is in the TE2 mix for Sunday’s game versus the Giants.
