Playing out of the late wave, World No. 221 Roger Sloan tacked on a 5-under-par 33-34=67 in the second round of the Sanderson Farms Championship, dipping two spots to solo 6th on 11-under 133, two swings shy of three co-leaders.
With laps of 66-67, the Canadian ends a mini-slump of two missed cuts in a row dating to last season’s THE NORTHERN TRUST, but preceded those with back-to-back top 10s, including a career-tying-best P2 at the regular-season-ending Wyndham (lost to Kevin Kisner), which vaulted him from 131st in the FedExCup standings to 92nd and avoided a trip to the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. On seven (of 14) fairways and 13 greens in regulation, he offset one bogey-6 at 11 (missed par-saver from 5'5") with six circles at 3, 4, 8, 10, 14 and 17, five from between 10 and 18 feet. At the halfway pole, the UTEP alum ranks 12th in SG: Putting (3.685), including a 2.017 today, and 15th SG: Tee-to-Green (3.626). He’ll play out of the third-to-last twosome in R3 with rookie Hayden Buckley.
