World No. 33 Kevin Na has published his intention to resign from the PGA TOUR in order “to begin the next chapter” of his career.
In a statement issued today, June 4, 2022, via his personal twitter feed (link below), the 38-year-old noted that he will be moving to the LIV Golf Invitational Series beginning next week in London. If he is not able to return to the TOUR in the future, or play in any of the four major championships run by separate entities, he will conclude his TOUR career with five wins among 79 top 10s in 455 career events, two DQ’s and 18 mid-tourney WD’s, his most recent victory coming 31 starts ago at the 2021 Sony Open. Of 43 appearances in major championships, the South Korean-born American, who has played continuously on the TOUR since 2004, missed 17 cuts and mustered two top 10s for a 4.65% top-10 strike rate, his best finish a solo 7th at the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont. Since the advent of the FedExCup Playoffs in 2007, he’s qualified for the postseason 15 times, was 85th in the FEC standings as of last week, and finished in the top 10 in the season-long points race one time, a 3rd-place finish last season, where he matched a career high with four podiums (in 26 events).
