Panthers placed RB Fozzy Whittaker on injured reserve with a torn ACL, ending his season.
Whittaker suffered the injury in OTAs. Headed into his seventh season, Whittaker handled the ball just 12 times in 12 games last year. He is not under contract with the Panthers for 2019. Whittaker turned 29 in February.

    Cardinals waived RB Fozzy Whittaker.
Whittaker signed a reserve/future pact in January, but a new coaching staff has since taken over and they are cleaning house. He’s a practice squad player.

Chargers claimed RB Fozzy Whittaker off waivers from the Cardinals.
He was waived on Monday. A 2012 UDFA, Whittaker has made zero career appearances. He’s a camp body for the Bolts.

Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt reportedly “likes” RB Fozzy Whittaker.
Whisenhunt coached Whittaker in Arizona last season, and thought enough of him to convince the Chargers to put in a waiver claim. It gives the 2012 undrafted free agent a decent chance to crack the roster as depth behind Ryan Mathews, Danny Woodhead and Ronnie Brown.

    Chargers waived RB Fozzy Whittaker.
Whittaker had a strong preseason, but fell behind Danny Woodhead and Ronnie Brown for backup duties and was being used strictly on special teams. With both RG Jeromey Clary (clavicle) and LT King Dunlap (concussion) not expected to play this week, the Chargers have signed OL Nick Becton off their practice squad.

Browns claimed RB Fozzy Whittaker off waivers from the Chargers.
He’ll add another body to Cleveland’s muddled running back corps. Whittaker can also return kicks and will be a candidate to replace Greg Little there.
  • FA Running Back
Chargers RB Fozzy Whittaker had six carries for 25 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s preseason game against the Cardinals.
He added two catches for 29 yards. Whittaker has outplayed Ronnie Brown in the preseason and is a strong candidate for San Diego’s No. 3 running back job. Through three preseason games, he has 33 touches for 140 total yards and two touchdowns.
  • FA Running Back #26
Willis McGahee (concussion) remained out of Browns practice Thursday.
Seeing as coach Rob Chudzinski is talking about McGahee’s season potentially being over, it’s looking like it will be the Chris Ogbonnaya and Fozzy Whittaker show against the Bears’ putrid run defense. Despite the enviable matchup, Ogbonnaya wouldn’t be more than a desperation RB2 for Week 15. The situation will be updated Friday.

Fozzy Whittaker caught two passes for 38 yards and a touchdown in Cleveland’s Week 17 loss to the Steelers.
Whittaker was held without a carry. Whittaker has a decent pair of hands for a running back, but ends 2013 with a horrid 28 carries for 79 yards (2.8 yards per carry). Whittaker won’t turn 25 until February, but will be a roster long-shot for 2014. The Browns are almost certainly going to focus on upgrading their backfield.

Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) is practicing in full this week.
Whittaker totaled 61 yards on nine touches last Sunday against the Bengals. He should continue to push Willis McGahee for snaps in a committee with Chris Ogbonnaya.
