Wendell Carter Jr. (sore left hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Wizards.
Carter will miss a fourth straight game due to the hamstring issue, which means that Chuma Okeke will start. While a bit inconsistent, Okeke is worth gambling on as a streamer in this particular spot. Carter’s absence will also give Mo Bamba more room to operate, which should post his already-solid fantasy value.

Freddie Gillespie got the start for Wendell Carter Jr. (left hamstring soreness) in Saturday’s loss to the Pistons, but didn’t do much at all with just two points, two rebounds, two assists and one block in 14 minutes.
This was his second start of the season and he failed to deliver in his first one as well. Gillespie isn’t a fantasy asset even if he’s in the starting lineup for the Magic, so leave him alone.

Wendell Carter Jr. (sore left hamstring) is ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Pistons.
This will be Carter’s third missed game of the season and with him out of the lineup, Freddie Gillespie will get the start. Gillespie hasn’t done much in limited minutes and should be left on the waivers. It’s encouraging that it’s being listed as a ‘sore’ hamstring, rather than strained, so perhaps WCJ will be ready to go for the second half of this back-to-back vs. the Wizards on Sunday.

  • UTA Center #11
Mo Bamba was quiet in his return to the floor on Sunday, finishing with just six points, seven rebounds, two triples and one steal in an overtime loss to the Celtics.
Bamba looked a bit out of sorts in his first game back from an eight-game absence, only logging 18 minutes while attempting a total of six shots. It might take him a few games to find his rhythm again, but he’s still a must-start player whenever he’s active. With Bamba back in action, Freddie Gillespie — who had been starting — ended his evening with a DNP-CD.

  • FA Small Forward #44
The Magic will sign Freddie Gillespie to a 10-day contract.
The Magic are down two big men due to injury, with starters Mo Bamba (protocols) and Wendell Carter Jr. (left knee) currently sidelined. As a result, they’re bringing in Gillespie on a 10-day contract, and there’s some fantasy value to be had. He has the potential to be productive as a rebounder and shot-blocker, so keep an eye on his minutes once officially signed.

  • FA Small Forward #44
The Raptors have waived Freddie Gillespie.
Gillespie showed some flashes last season of his potential on the defensive end, so while he may need to play in the G League for a little bit, it shouldn’t be too long before he finds another NBA contract.

  • FA Small Forward #44
Freddie Gillespie registered two points, five rebounds, three swats and two turnovers across 20 minutes in Tuesday’s Summer League win over Brooklyn.
Gillespie has shown a lot of promise as a shot-blocker, but he’s still very raw on the offensive end, and it’ll be tough for him to find consistent minutes as long as Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby are healthy and in Toronto. He’ll be a popular waiver-wire pickup if Toronto tilts to full rebuild mode, but he’s not a guy we’ll be targeting in standard league drafts this season.

  • FA Small Forward #44
Freddie Gillespie, Malachi Flynn, DeAndre’ Bembry, Stanley Johnson and Khem Birch will start for the Raptors on Sunday.
Aron Baynes will be a primary reserve for the Raptors, who could also opt to use Gary Trent Jr. and Chris Boucher off the bench. The end is nigh.

  • FA Center #92
Khem Birch hit 5-of-7 shots and 3-of-3 free throws for 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and a block in 31 minutes and another start for the Raptors on Tuesday.
Birch was the second-leading scorer for a very short-handed Raptors team that is no longer fighting for the postseason. Chris Boucher led the way with 16 points, Malachi Flynn scored 111 with a fun stat line, and Freddie Gillespie, DeAndre Bembry and Jalen Harris all scored 10 off the bench. The Raptors simply didn’t have enough offense on the court to make it a game.

  • FA Small Forward #44
The Raptors are signing forward Freddie Gillespie to a two-year contract, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Gillespie has been efficient while on the court with 60.0% field goals and 91.7% free throws, though he’s only scoring 5.3 points due to limited minutes (16.0) and usage (13.2%). His per-minute profile is very intriguing with 2.9 swats per 36 minutes, but unless Toronto goes full tank he may not get enough run to make a reliable fantasy impact this season.
