Field Set in Spain

This week’s Turespaa Mallorca Classic is one of just two tournaments remaining prior to the European Tour’s season-ending Volvo Masters Andalucia.

There are places to be filled in the top-60 in the Volvo Order of Merit to qualify for the Volvo Masters at Valderrama; berths in The Seve Trophy field to be claimed; places in the top-20 and top-15 in the Volvo Order of Merit to be decided and cards to be retained for full playing exemption in 2004.

Most of the top players are competing at the World Match Play Championship in England or on the PGA Tour in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Next week, the European Tour continues in Spain for the Telefonica Open de Madrid, where Steen Tinning is the defending champion.

Top Contenders in the Field

Mark Foster - Only top-10 was a win at dunhill championship, 9 missed cuts.

Ricardo Gonzalez - Has made 12 of 17 cuts this year, 88th on money list.

Miguel A. Jimenez - 30th on money list, has made 15 of 20 cuts, 5 top-10s.

Robert Karlsson - Has posted 5 top-10s in 24 events, 46th on money list.

Maarten Lafeber - Won last week for 1st win, moved to 26th on money list.

Jose M. Olazabal - Has failed to crack the top-five this year, 62nd in money.

Lee Westwood - 6th on money list with 2 wins in 22 events, 9 missed cuts.

Craig Williams - Captured last week’s Ryder Cup Wales Challenge.
