AROUND THE GOLF WORLD

And the Winner of the 1st Annual Celebrity Golf Championship is . . .Mark Rypien!
And the Winner is . . . Tony Romo! Mark Mulder takes a decent lead into the final round, but is unable to seal the deal. Romo and Joe Pavelski score 25 & 27 points respectively on Sunday to force a three way playoff. On the second playoff hole, Mulder and Pavelski both hit a tree on their drives and Romo capitalizes for his third ACC Championship.
And the Winner is . . . Vinny Del Negro! A birdie on the 54-hole by Del Negro forced a playoff, the fourth in event history, between the former NBA player and coach and MLB Cy Young Winner John Smoltz. Another birdie on the first playoff gave an emotional Del Negro the win as he dedicated the win to his late father. The event also featured the first double eagle in tournament history when Mike Modano holed out from 200 yards on the 18th hole in the first round.
And the Winner is . . .Stephen Curry! After a quick start on Friday, Curry ends round one with the lead. He tops that on Saturday with a hole in one on the seventh hole and finishes the day in the lead once more. The Final Round is a classic shootout with Mardy Fish who has the lead for most of the back nine until Stephen makes an eagle on the 18th hole for a walk off win and becomes the first active player to win the tournament since 2000.
And the Winner is . . .Mardy Fish! The odds on favorite delivers and bounces back from last year’s result to capture his second American Century Championship. Fish’s putter catapulted him into the lead after a second round 65 which score him 34 points for the day. Joe Pavelski remained on his heels throughout the third round, but was unable to catch the eventual Champion. The win is extra special as it is Fish’s first win in front of the fans.
