Gordon Beckham has retired from professional baseball.
Beckham made the announcement on his personal Twitter account. The 35-year-old infielder steps away after an 11-year career that included stops with the White Sox, Angels, Mariners, Giants, Braves and Tigers. He last appeared in the majors with Detroit back in 2019. He finishes with a respectable .237/.300/.367 triple-slash line and 80 homers across 1,069 games dating back to 2009.

    Mets released INF Gordon Beckham.
Beckham joined the Mets on a minor league contract just before the start of summer camp and obviously failed to crack the Opening Day roster. The 33-year-old infielder is a career .237/.300/.367 hitter.

Gordon Beckham is back in the Mets’ summer camp Thursday following a two-day absence.
It’s not clear why Beckham was away. He’s a depth piece for the Mets.

Gordon Beckham has been missing from Mets camp for the last two days.
Mets manager Luis Rojas would not provide an explanation for the veteran infielder’s absence when asked about it Wednesday. Beckham signed a minor league contract with New York last month and was immediately added to the player pool for MLB’s planned 60-game 2020 campaign.

Mets signed INF Gordon Beckham to a minor league contract.
Beckham is the fourth addition to the team’s 60-man player pool since the initial roster was announced on Sunday evening. The 33-year-old was released by the Padres in March after hitting just .215/.271/.372 in his 340 plate appearances with the Tigers in 2019. Expectations should be low, but the Mets are prioritizing veteran depth.

    Padres released INF Gordon Beckham.
Beckham was signed to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training in February. He hit just .215/.271/.372 in his 340 plate appearances with the Tigers in 2019, and the 33-year-old infielder didn’t procure a hit in his 20 at-bats with San Diego in the Cactus League.

Padres signed INF Gordon Beckham to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Beckham posted a weak .215/.271/.372 batting line over 240 plate appearances with the Tigers last season. The 33-year-old will try to impress in the spring, but he’s unlikely to see a similar workload this year regardless of where he plays.

Niko Goodrum (groin) is out of the Tigers’ lineup again on Wednesday.
It’ll be the fourth straight absence for Goodrum, who’s working through a sore groin. If it lingers any longer, he’ll probably be placed on the 10-day injured list. Gordon Beckham is at second base Wednesday versus the Astros.

Niko Goodrum (groin) remains sidelined for Tuesday’s game against the Astros.
Goodrum has now missed three straight games due to a sore groin. Gordon Beckham is getting a start at second base Tuesday.

JaCoby Jones was removed from the first half of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the White Sox due to back spasms.
Niko Goodrum moved from second base to center field and Gordon Beckham entered the game at second. This is probably going to be a day-to-day situation for Jones, who was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts before departing.
