Beckham joined the Mets on a minor league contract just before the start of summer camp and obviously failed to crack the Opening Day roster. The 33-year-old infielder is a career .237/.300/.367 hitter.

It’s not clear why Beckham was away. He’s a depth piece for the Mets.
