Hyun-soo Kim got a rare start over Joey Rickard on Wednesday and went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a walk against the Astros.
Ever since the season start, Kim has looked like the player the Orioles signed him to be. Maybe they should give him a real chance to show what he can do? He’s 14-for-32 with three doubles, five walks and just two strikeouts in his very limited action.
  • MLB Designated Hitter #24
Pedro Alvarez is not in the Orioles’ lineup Sunday.
Alvarez has been benched in three of the last four games, and all three times the opponent has had a righty on the mound. The O’s are going with Mark Trumbo as their designated hitter and Hyun-soo Kim and Nolan Reimold in left and right field, respectively.
  • INT Outfield #31
Hyun Soo Kim (hamstring) is expected to begin a rehab assignment soon with Double-A Bowie.
He’ll likely play two games there and then rejoin the O’s when first eligible on Tuesday. Kim has been on the disabled list since July 19, retroactive to July 11, with a strained right hamstring.
  • INT Outfield #31
Hyun Soo Kim (hamstring) will play one more rehab game with Double-A Bowie.
He went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Sunday in his rehab debut, but to be fair the opposition was throwing a left-handed knuckleballer -- a difficult matchup for any hitter on short notice. Kim will try for better results Monday, but he’ll remain on track to rejoin the Orioles on Tuesday no matter what goes down. The outfielder has been on the disabled list since July 19, retroactive to July 11, because of a strained right hamstring.
  • INT Outfield #31
Orioles placed OF Hyun Soo Kim on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 11, with a strained right hamstring.
Kim suffered the injury in the Orioles’ final game before the All-Star break and is still nursing back to full health. He should be ready by the end of July.
  • INT Outfield #31
Hyun Soo Kim (hamstring) is not in the Orioles’ lineup Monday against the Yankees.
He’s still nursing a hamstring injury. Nolan Reimold is filling in at left field for the O’s. Kim has now missed four straight games and could be headed to the disabled list if his condition doesn’t improve quickly.
  • INT Outfield #31
Hyun Soo Kim went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Rangers on Thursday.
Leading off the sixth inning, Kim attacked an A.J. Griffin offering for the solo dong. Surprisingly, the homer was just the fourth for Kim this year after he hit 28 home runs in the Korean Baseball Organization last season. What he’s lacked in power he’s made up for in on-base ability, as the 28-year-old is now hitting .335/.418/.460 in 54 games.
  • INT Outfield #31
Hyun Soo Kim finished 4-for-5 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored in Thursday’s win over the Astros.
Kim continues to hit for a strong average, even if the power hasn’t been as advertised. With Thursday’s four-hit game, the 28-year-old is now hitting .329/.406/.449 in 64 games. He’s got just four homers, 14 RBI and 27 runs scored in those 64 games.
  • INT Outfield #31
Hyun Soo Kim (hamstring) will be put through a workout Thursday at Tropicana Field.
If it doesn’t go well, Kim is probably going to be placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 11) with a right hamstring strain. The outfielder suffered the injury in the Orioles’ final game before the All-Star break. Kim has impressed to the tune of a .329/.410/.454 batting line in 46 games this season with Baltimore.
  • INT Outfield #31
Hyun Soo Kim departed Sunday’s game versus the Angels with a right hamstring strain.
It’s unclear how Kim suffered the injury or if it might be something that could send him to the disabled list. The Orioles should have an update on the outfielder’s status after the game.
