Colts signed Notre Dame QB Jack Coan.
Coan (6’3/223) helped elevate Notre Dame in his lone season with the program after transferring from Wisconsin, completing 65.7% of his passes for 3,150 yards with 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The performance earned him an invite to the Shrine Bowl and Combine. He has also earned a “game-manager” label that he says he views as a positive because it means he’s doing what’s asked of him. Looking at the film, there are plenty of instances in which Coan has shown he can push the ball downfield and make the big play happen. He is not a scrambler, but he does navigate the pocket well and has enough to make something happen when things fall apart. Though Sam Ehlinger has the inside track on the backup job in Indy, Coan could ultimately become the long-term back for Matt Ryan if the Colts like what they see in camp.
