Former Houston redshirt senior T Jarrid Williams transferred to Miami as a graduate.
Williams (6'7/305) entered the transfer portal in late April. In addition to Miami, he was also seriously considering Florida State, Baylor, Ole Miss and USC. Chalk it up as a win for Hurricanes HC Manny Diaz and company. The redshirt senior worked as a full 13-game starter at right tackle with the Cougars in 2018 and started the first four games of the 2019 campaign before he was waylaid by a season-ending injury. The NCAA awarded Williams a sixth year of eligibility in December, allowing him one more year of collegiate ball. With Miami, he will be eligible to play immediately come the start of the 2020 season.

  • Transferring Houston redshirt senior T Jarrid Williams named his final five schools.
Those final five schools, you ask? Miami, Florida State, Baylor, Ole Miss and USC, in no particular order. Williams (6'7/305) is hoping to make a commitment by May 29, but told The Athletic’s Manny Navarro he could make a decision sooner. After being award a sixth year of eligibility, the 6-foot-7, 305-pound tackle has become a hot name in the transfer portal. He appeared in 13 games as a starting right tackle for the Cougars last season, and should help solidify that position for whatever school he ends up at.

  • Houston redshirt senior T Jarrid Williams entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Williams (6'7/305) was awarded a sixth year on a medical waiver in December and went on to hit the transfer portal at the end of April. 247Sports’ Gaby Urrutia reports that Miami is one program which is keen on the redshirt senior, who worked as a 13-game starter at right tackle for the Cougars in 2018. A high-ankle sprain largely washed out his 2019 season. Miami already has former Houston QB D’Eriq King on roster, which could potentially give the Hurricanes a little edge as Williams assesses his transfer options.

  • Houston redshirt senior T Jarrid Williams has been granted a sixth season of eligibility with a medical waiver.
Williams (6'7/305) suffered a high-ankle sprain early in the year that forced him to miss the remainder of the season. Since he only started a handful of games and the injury was clearly severe, the NCAA saw it fit to grant Williams a medical waiver to give him another chance in 2020. It’s always great news when a senior gets another chance to play rather than being forced to end their career early.
  • Houston senior OL Jarrid Williams underwent surgery on his right food and will miss the rest of the season.
Williams (6'7/305) has been out since September 28 because of the foot injury. He’s been missed, as he’s considered one of the top offensive lineman in the AAC. There’s a chance his college career is done, but because he only played in four games, there’s a chance Williams could return as a redshirt senior in 2020.
  • Houston senior OL Jarrid Williams will not play in Saturday’s game vs. Cincinnati due to a right foot injury.
Williams (6'7/305) is not dressed out for the game, with the senior’s right foot in a walking boot. One of the top offensive linemen in the American, he made 13 starts at right tackle in 2018. With Williams unavailable, Houston will likely turn to sophomore Jordan Boatman at right tackle.
  • Houston senior RT Jarrid Williams was back in the game for the Cougars’ next offensive series after leaving Sunday’s game vs. Oklahoma with an apparent left leg injury.
Williams being able to get back into the game on the next possession given his importance to the Cougar offensive line. Houston would go down to score its first points of the game on that drive, with the senior tackle having some key blocks along the way.
  • Houston senior RT Jarrid Williams left Sunday’s game vs. Oklahoma in the second quarter with an apparent left leg injury.
Williams (6'7/305) is one of Houston’s best linemen and a bonafide NFL Draft prospect, with Pro Football Network analyst Tony Pauline giving him a fifth-round grade. If the senior right tackle is unable to return that would be a big loss for the Cougars to absorb, and sophomore Jordan Boatman would be Williams’ likely replacement.
  • Houston senior OT Jarrid Williams was given a 5th round grade by Draft Analyst’s Tony Pauline.
Williams (6'7/305) is a lengthy prospect, who will likely get a chance at tackle to start his NFL career. Pauline is more bullish on Williams, Houston’s right tackle, than Josh Jacobs, Houston’s more thought of left tackle. The analyst likes Williams fundamentals more and standing at 6-foot-7 certainly helps. Both Williams and Jacobs have a shot at being drafted and are, at worst, UDFA prospects.
