Bears placed OT Jason Spriggs on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Spriggs had played only two snaps all season before filling in at right tackle in Week 8. Starting RG Germain Ifedi has been deemed a “close contact” and will also go on the COVID-19 list, though he could be cleared in time for Sunday’s game against the Titans. With RT Bobby Massie out at least a month with a knee issue, the Bears will be down to their No. 3 right tackle vs. Tennessee.

  • FA Tackle #76
    Packers waived/injured OT Jason Spriggs.
The No. 48 overall pick of the 2016 draft, Spriggs’ has a “trap muscle” injury. He will revert to injured reserve once he clears waivers. Spriggs could never graduate to more than ineffective backup status in Green Bay. His career high for snaps was last year’s 291. Still only 25, Spriggs’ relative youth could earn him a second chance if he gets cut loose with an injury settlement.
  • FA Tackle #76
Packers signed No. 48 overall pick OT Jason Spriggs to a four-year, $5.004 million contract.
The deal contains a $1.839 million signing bonus and $2.966 million guaranteed. The Packers gave up a fourth- and seventh-round pick to move up nine spots in the second round to land Spriggs, but it is unlikely he is a factor right away. LT David Bakhtiari and RT Bryan Bulaga are locked into the starting lineup, and it is unlikely Spriggs will challenge LG Josh Sitton or RG T.J. Lang. Three of those four are scheduled to be free agents after this season, however, and it is unlikely Green Bay is able to keep all of Bakhtiari, Sitton, and Lang from hitting free agency. Spriggs might have to wait a year, but he could be the future at left tackle.
  • FA Tackle #76
Packers OT Jason Spriggs (hamstring, injured reserve) has resumed practicing.
It means Spriggs will be one of the Packers’ two “return” players from I.R. He’s eligible to return to game action in Week 10. He should immediately reassume “swing” status for the Packers’ banged up offensive line.
  • FA Tackle #76
Packers traded up with the Colts to select Indiana OT Jason Spriggs with the No. 48 overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft.
The Pack surrendered their fourth- and seventh-round picks to move up nine spots. Spriggs (6'6/301) made 47 starts for the Hoosiers — all at left tackle — and earned second-team All-Big Ten as a senior, permitting just two sacks. Spriggs has long arms (34 1/8") and big hands (10 1/8"), and obliterated the Combine, placing top five among offensive linemen in the forty (4.94), bench (31 reps), broad jump (9'7") and short shuttle (4.44). Spriggs needs technical work on converting his strength into power, but possesses an ideal blend of size, length and movement skills for an NFL tackle.
  • FA Tackle #76
Packers placed OT Jason Spriggs on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
The 2016 second-rounder is the Packers’ swing tackle. It’s a big blow, as the Pack have already dealt with injury to both starters. Spriggs should be a candidate for return.
  • FA Tackle #76
Packers activated OT Jason Spriggs (hamstring) from injured reserve.
Spriggs adds some needed depth with RT Bryan Bulaga on IR. He’ll return to a swing role behind starters David Bakhtiari and Justin McCray.
  • FA Tackle #76
Packers RT Jason Spriggs left Saturday night’s Week 16 game with a left knee injury and will not return.
He was carted off and ruled out almost immediately, which can’t be a good sign. Spriggs has been the Packers’ starting right tackle since Bryan Bulaga tore his ACL, largely struggling across six appearances (five starts).
  • FA Tackle #76
Packers OT Jason Spriggs (injured reserve) is dealing with a dislocated left kneecap.
The team originally feared a torn ACL, so this is a big relief. Spriggs should be ready for the offseason program. The 2016 second-rounder has yet to establish himself as anything more than a swing tackle.
  • FA Tackle #76
Packers placed OT Jason Spriggs on injured reserve with a left knee injury, ending his season.
The Packers’ fill-in right tackle went down on the first snap against Minnesota in Week 16. He had to be carted to the locker room, though the exact nature of his injury remains unknown. The No. 48 overall pick of the 2016 draft, Spriggs hasn’t shown much through the first two years of his career.
