Jed Lowrie has announced his retirement after a 14-year major league career.
The 38-year-old Lowrie wrapped up his career in a 50-game stint with the A’s last season before being designated for assignment. He made his only All-Star team with the A’s in 2018, which was also the best season of his career. Injures have plagued him in recent years, including a forgettable tenure with the Mets. He’ll walk away with a .257/.330/.406 batting line and 1,185 career hits over 1,307 major league games.

    Athletics released INF/DH Jed Lowrie.
Lowrie was designated for assignment by the A’s on Wednesday and predictably passed through waivers without interest from another team. The 38-year-old had batted just .180/.245/.263 in 50 games this season.

Athletics designated INF/DH Jed Lowrie for assignment.
Lowrie signed a one-year, $850,000 free agent contract with the Athletics shortly after the lockout ended in March and went on to slash just .180/.245/.263 in 50 games (184 plate appearances) this season. The 38-year-old may be nearing the end of the road here in his 14th major league campaign.

Athletics activated INF/DH Jed Lowrie from the 10-day injured list.
Recovered from a left shoulder strain, Lowrie will DH and bat seventh for the A’s on Tuesday night against the Angels. The 38-year-old has slashed just .185/.251/.272 in 46 games when healthy this season.

Jed Lowrie (shoulder) went 1-for-3 with a walk on Sunday in a minor league rehab contest for Triple-A Las Vegas.
Lowrie kicked off a minor league rehab assignment last week and is continues to trend towards a return to Oakland after missing over a month due to a left shoulder strain.

Jed Lowrie (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Las Vegas.
Lowrie has been sidelined since late June due to a left shoulder strain and is finally ready to embark on a minor league rehab assignment. He’ll likely require a few tune-up contests to get back up to speed after an extended layoff and should return in a reserve role for the Athletics sometime in early August.

Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said Saturday that Jed Lowrie’s MRI revealed some fluid in his left shoulder.
Lowrie will receive a cortisone shot to relieve the issue and will start a strengthening program next week. The veteran infielder was placed on the injured list earlier this week with a left shoulder strain. There is no timetable for his return at the moment.

Athletics placed INF Jed Lowrie on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 27, with a left shoulder strain.
Lowrie has been dealing with the injury since June 9, and rather than have him continue to struggle to work through it, he’ll get at least a week off to recover. He underwent an MRI, and while there’s no structural damage, the injury was starting to regress. Vimael Machin is recalled to take his place on the roster. Assuming Lowrie doesn’t have structural damage, he should be back around the All-Star break.

Athletics manager Mark Kotsay acknowledged Wednesday that Jed Lowrie’s left shoulder “has been an issue.”
This stems from a collision at first base back on June 9 against the Guardians. Lowrie has been in and out of the A’s lineup since and entered play on Wednesday with zero hits in his last 25 plate appearances. Kotsay said the team has discussed giving the veteran Lowrie a break via a 10-day IL stint.

Jed Lowrie went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Wednesday’s loss to the Mariners.
Lowrie failed to spark at the dish on Wednesday, though the same can be said of the A’s as a whole. Through 146 at-bats this season, he is hitting a putrid .192/.259/.281 with three homers and 16 RBI. Lowrie is a better hitter than that, but it’s been a struggle this summer.
